Updated 2" Mopar Lift/Level Kit - Discussion

FYI anyone running the mopar 2” lift and orp front springs you will likely eventually have issues with the ball joints on the mopar uca’s. I take my truck off road fairly often and my ball joint gave out after 6 months. I almost regret spending the extra money on the “high quality” mopar kit now, even though it did ride very nice when it was in good shape.
That stinks man! If you do quite a bit of off-roading you might want to get some RCs or RLs sooner than later since you have the ORP springs up front. I know its easy for me to say since it's not my money but I would hate to see you get stranded in the middle of nowhere for a blown BJ .

What happens to the truck when a Ball joint fails? Since it is a Mopar part wont they replace it for no cost?

I will answer your questions based purely off of my experience with the mopar lift install and orp springs in front, I am by no means the expert.
The UCAs that come with the Mopar lift will be fine for daily driving even with the ORP springs. I would not recommend extreme off-roading or towing on a regular basis with them because I think they would wear out the ball joint sooner than later. I have had no negative effects at all with my CV angle even in 4x4 at higher speeds.
If you do the ORP springs front only then you will net roughly 3.5" up front and 2" in the back with just the standard springs in rear. If you add the ORP springs all the way around then yes you are correct you will gain a total 3.5" up front and 3" in the back maintaining close to factory rack.
As far as tires, I went with the 11.5 wide because I kept my factory wheels and I knew I was adding 1.25" wheel spacers and a 12.5 tire would rub for sure with the wheel spacers. I CAN'T tell you for sure that a 12.5 wide tire on stock 20s would rub on the UCA knuckle but I CAN tell you that my 11.5 wide tire on stock 20 (19mm offset) was about .25" inch from my Mopar UCA knuckle prior to installing the wheels spacers. With my current setup I have no rub at all. If you plan on doing 1.5" wheels spacers I'm about 99% sure a 12.5 wide tire will rub on the fender lining somewhere with stock rim. Hope this info helps!

Yes this answers my questions. I don’t really want to get spacers if I don’t need them. I was looking at the price $300 for wheel spacers that‘s a bunch of money. Even more with shipping. Were you worried when you only have .25” from the UCA, in regards to rubbing? I know in an off-road situation and flexing this might pose a problem. But it “should” be ok for on-road use only right?

Since you have a setup similar to what I want, can you tell me the height of your truck for the following scenarios.

Center of hub to top of fender arch -
Ground level to top of fender arch -

Much thanks for your help

Do you think this would still be the case in an on-road only application? Do you think this is only because you off road fairly often that you are over extending the limits of the UCAs and causing premature ball joint issues? Of course over reading you truck is never usually level like it is on the highway.

I think that the mopar kit with the orp Springs would be just fine long term with strictly on road use. I just take my truck through somewhat harsh conditions that would require a heavier duty set up to avoid breaking. My suspension gets roughed up as I hit deep mud holes and sand banks in the river at speed on an every weekend basis.

I drove around for 2 weeks without my wheels spacers installed with no rubbing. I will get you some measurements.

From what other members on this thread have posted about the Mopar 2” kit with ORP springs, you should be fine with on road use only. Any off roading, aftermarket parts are recommended. The only stock trucks that can all handle off roading are the Rebel and my dream truck, the Power Wagon. Even those have limitations.

Yes if I have plans to take this truck off-roading I would for sure be getting the BDS 4" or 6" lift just to be on the safe side. I am not off-roading this at all so I am not worried about that. The most off-roading I see if dirt/gravel roads lol...

Aswesome I appreciate the information about the spacers and getting measurements.

Yes I haven’t ordered yet. The ones on eBay are coming from the exact same Fayetteville, NY like you said. I wonder if the eBay person and allmoparparts.com are the same person or getting from the same source.

Yeah $1600 Canadian all in sounds like a great deal.

Was your $1800 including shipping? When you did the check out did it include taxes? I know the eBay one (I am sure you checked it out, since you know its Fayetteville) includes all this. So my total would be $1600. Depending on installation, I may or may not do it myself. I have tools (air and manual), ramps, knowledge, I can get help if needed and I like messing with this stuff anymore. I may look into doing it myself. I have seen many members go that route.

BUT... If the dealers $600 charge is including alignment then I will be taking to them 100% because alignment usually runs about $100-150 CDN anyhow. I didn’t ask if the install priced included alignment. Also they may charge a different amount because I am not buying the kit from them. I will find out eventually.

I will be going to the dealer this week to check out the managers truck, he just put the lift on.
Hey Just for info purposes I bought a Mopar lift from the other vendor on eBay. (cnymopar) $990 plus tax since I am in NY. Was perfect transaction, and he only had 1 previous history on eBay. The other guy was overwhelmed and couldn't/ wouldn't sell at the time of purchase. I got the kit in 2 days.
For me the install was done at a dealer, pre arranged price of 4 labor hours, they surprised me with a $150 charge for the alignment, had I known earlier I would have told them not to do it, a local shop I could have had it done with a lifetime guarantee for same money.
I shopped around a few local dealers and the prices were all over the place, as high as $1200 down to about $550. I went with a $600 dealer since they do a lot of lifts, and it came out fine.
Another heads up, I went on dealers website and downloaded a 10% off coupon for a service, and gave it to the dealer when I dropped it off. They took it off the install but not the alignment.
Hope this long post helps.

That is the exact same seller I referred top a few pages back (cnymopar) they are actually a FCA dealer in Fayetteville. They told me they send an offical invoice from the dealer in the package. Did you get a invoice from them as a FCA dealer? I made me feel way better once they told me this.

I'm in Canada so the kit is $1300cdn then plus shipping and taxes comes to = $1600cdn (about 1250usd). My dealer wants $2600 for the kit so this eBay FCA dealer is where I'm going to buy. Although I need to find out if the parts will have issues getting warranty from FCA Canada since they are bought from a US FCA dealer.

I appreciate your vote of confidence with the cnymopar seller. Makes me feel even better about ordering from them.

I'll be asking my dealer next week how much exactly it will be to do the install with balance. Plus adding the ORP springs.

I ordered my kit from (cnymopar) as well last Saturday. It’s on its way to me here in NW Ohio. I paid $995 with free shipping. Dealer wanted $1350. FYI, that EBay seller requires you send your VIN # in a message to him or else he’ll cancel your order after 3 days. Evidently too many guys are ordering the kit who have air suspension or other non compatible setups and end up sending the kit back. Seller is probably tired of all the returns. I’m hoping the kit I receive is not a previously installed used kit that was returned. I was skeptical even though the listing states new to get it under $1000...

I sent him a message to see if the kits were new or used (before I even knew it was an FCA dealer) the reply was that all kits are brand new.

I’m still on the fence between Mopar 2” and Readylift SST 3.5”.. For me to achieve the same height with the Mopar as what ready lift gives I’ll be paying somwhere around $1700-$1900CDN (The lift plus ORP springs). The readylift I can get for just under $1200 and I don’t need anything else unless I want to upgrade shocks and strut to Bilstien 5100.

Is the Mopar an actual “real” lift whereas the Readylift is a leveling kit with spaces. Or are both kits sort of the same design? I do like the FOX shocks all around. What’s better Fox 2.0 vs Bilstien 5100?

I want good value for my money. I don‘t want my truck to ride like a solid axle truck (did that already with my front/rear solid axle 2500). Is it worth spending another $500-700cdn for Mopar which will be roughly the same height as Readylift?

Not to derail the thread or get off topic.. but i've been contemplating a similar scenario... Have you thought about going the 5100/5160 Bilstein route? The set of shocks is roughly $600, you can add the mopar UCA's for slightly better ball joint angles for about $100/shipped if not cheaper, and then add the ORP front springs for around $250-300. While not completely OEM, you are getting the height you are seeking, safer ball joint angles for your application and really creating value in regards to your upgrades, all while obtaining the same off road capabilities. just a thought.

I would not recommend the mopar UCA’s for any off-road use. I’m having to replace one right now due to failure with the mopar 2” lift and orp front springs.

Picture of the failure? I've been going off road with my mopar UCAs and ORP quite a bit with no issue.

Can still go with the abovementioned Bilstein set up and upgrade to the RC forged UCA's, to ensure long term off road durability, and the height, etc. he was looking for. From my understanding the new RC arms are pretty stout and at roughly $350 a fairly reasonable upgrade over stock/mopar arms, without spending a fortune for RL or Icon.

I got a big box with 2 industrial straps on it. I never opened the box and just put in the bed and brought it to the dealer for install. I had no issues. Install was flawless, and I was told to bring it back after 500 miles for re torquing.
I have new wheels and have to pick tires to be mounted. Now that's the real problem. LOL

I will have to contact them again regarding an invoice. I never opened the box before giving it to dealer for install.

I just ordered the 2 inch lift, front ORP springs. $1,833 for parts and install which includes alignment. My dealer only charges $80 an hour when they are installing accessories. Total they are charging me 5 hours labor ( said they had an extra hour of labor due to the ORP springs) . I also had them price match tires for me. All said and done with NY tax ($250 ouch) - $3,189 . I was just approved for the $250 drive away bonus - awesome that someone posted this on here- and the tires have an additional $75 mail in rebate... So its like $2,864.
Hopefully I can get a few hundred for the Dueler tires that only have 700 miles on them. Looking forward to having it installed!
