I got the truck in for service today for this issue. The notes from the tech include:I have a 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 Big Horn Crew Cab 5.7l V8, which I bought from a Ram dealer last February. It was a one-owner truck. I use it to tow our camper on short trips, otherwise it's our only vehicle.
I am at 53k miles, caught up on air and cabin filter, oil and changes every 5k, and did brake fluid last year. I'm not 100% sure the battery was renewed, but it is marked "May 2023" on the label, so I would guess yes. The truck is "Ram Certified Pre-Owned", which covers engine and transmission to 100k miles, less a $50 deductible Dx fee.
Lately, in the mornings, within the first couple miles, as I approach a stop sign, sometimes I will get a bit of bucking and rough downshifting. This is accompanied by a message "Shift to P to Start", or very similar wording, on the front gauge display. The truck eventually gets to first gear, and proceeds from there normally. This never has happened when the truck is warm, or later in the day.
I have a service appointment next week at my local Ram dealer for an oil change, and will ask them about this. I'll post any updates, but any ideas on how to address this would be appreciated.
"Vehicle TCM reprogrammed from part 68445537AB to part no. 68445537AD. Transmission fluid checks ok. No fault codes active in PCM or TCM."
So on the way home, the truck felt like it had more get up and go. I had no instances of rough shifting, but granted this was late in the day. I'll retest this week when it's cold and confirm.
Just posting in case it helps someone else out.
