Anyone ever experience a problem with the transmission not wanting to shift out of first? Last night I came out of a movie (1917 excellent by the way), and when I took off I notice the high rev issue I sometimes get. This time it didn't want to shift out of first. I pulled out into the street and it kept doing it. So I quickly pulled over and put her in park and back to drive and it went away. I haven't had it do it before but I have heard it rev weird sometimes. I also have had a thunk when I am going uphill and getting to the top and I let off on the gas that it clunks into gear. I have taken it to the dealer but they can't find any issues (of course). Any suggestions? I am starting to think it is something with the electronics because I also have days where I push the start button and nothing happens and days where the radio doesn't display. It is either because it is cold outside or its the electronics going haywire. 2019 Ram 1500 5.7 - 35875 miles

Odds are (very, very) good that you accidentally limited the truck to first gear using the button on your steering wheel ;)

Yeah if you accidentally push it, it can limit it to 1st gear and when you put it back into park it reset it.

BjPatton , I have the same problem and my truck is only 1 month old and it only has 520 miles on the clock . I just came back from getting a cup of coffee and as I was starting to accelerate out of the parking lot it did the same thing !! This is not the only time it has done it so far it has done it 3 times and trust me I have watched out not to hit the gear selector buttons because that was my first thought that I hit it !!

Well sad to say I’ve been having issues since about 500 miles. Harmonious vibration at certain speeds. Dealer installed new driveshaft, drove it out with the same vib. Now the noise has started with the truck in park just after start . The noise is so loud at times, the kids won’t ride in the back seat. I have told the dealer to buy it back.
as for shift issues , pay attention to the shift paddle. I have bumped it a few times causing shifting issues. Poor placement of the paddle.

100% you hit the minus button on your steering wheel while the car was idling, which would have locked you in 1st gear.

If you hit it while moving, say the truck in was 4th gear, you would be locked in between gears 1-4. Besides turning off the feature, it will turn itself off if you change gears (from P/D/R/N) or turn the truck off and then on.

When activated, you will see the display on the center of you gauges in what gear it limits you in (just right of the PRND indicators). I honestly wished FCA and the dealership would spend some time to explain this feature to new owners, because I can imagine how this will freak someone out if they did it by accident and didn't know what they did.

Hello Stearman,
We are certainly sorry to hear about your ongoing concern and understand your frustration associated. To clarify, when was your most recent appointment with the dealer? If your most recent appointment was in the last two weeks, or if you’re willing to head back to your dealer again, we would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf so that a Case Specialist can work alongside your dealer to find a potential solution. If this would be of interest, please reach back out to us privately. Just let us know how you plan to proceed.

Was it coming from the passenger rear.? I had a loud vibration sound coming from that area for a day, stoped and hasn’t done it since.

I’ll check my paperwork for you and get back on that. What I can say with out it is that my symptom was one of the directly related to update.
