So I have a 2019 1500 Bighorn 4x4, and it only has 5500 miles. I already need a new transmission because mine is burnt up. Dealership says it’s not going to cover it under warranty because the truck is “abused”. In reality, the truck is just dirty, and thoughts on how to get this fixed under warranty? And bypass the dealer?

Clean it up and bring to different dealer?

Pictures of “dirty” truck? I know of guys who thought they could take a new truck and put it in the mud and warranty would take care of it. Definitely not the case. Sorry to hear though.

we are talking about the transmission, not the transfer case?

Honestly we need more then just what’s originally posted. Photos of its current state, what made you take it to dealer, was it purchased new, written proof what dealership is denying. I’m not saying you’re not truthful, but OP you’ve just joined less then 30 minutes ago with only this one posting ?

Lol not trolling, just never used a message board so not really sure what to ask. I’ll have to get what the dealership has in writing but here’s current pictures and the code list. Original reason I took it to the dealer was because it would stick in either second or 4th gear and wouldn’t shift out. And yesterday I was on The highway in seventh gear and the truck essentially went into neutral while registering that it was still in drive so I was just gliding down the highway and had to pull off to the side, turn the truck off, sit for a minute and turn it back on to get it to shift again. This has me a little worried because I’m guessing that’s a sign that the problem is getting worse

Again not accusing you of trolling, just some folks come on here blast about one major problem and we never hear from them again. My strong suggestion is to fully detail it and take it to another dealership. If then not addressed time to have an attorney send a little memo.

I thought about doing that but at the same time aren’t the problems reported to dodge? Because I was going to wipe the codes and bring it in but my big worry was that they report it to the company

Again clean it up so that everything is readily accessible, drive it to the next dealership and let them access it. Just because one dealership calls a foul, does not make that the end. :)

Other than whatevers going on with your exhaust that truck isnt even that dirty... abused????? Looks fine to me, I would have raised hell at that comment. Find a new dealer ASAP. That is not a valid reason to not warranty a transmission with 5K on it.

I wouldn't jump on the "it's the dealers fault" wagon that quickly. I'm not saying the OP is holding back some truth, but something smells a little fishy. I would be joining a forum and asking questions about my transmission at the first sign of an issue. Transmissions dont go from working to burnt out.

What would incentivize the dealer to snap-deny an even potentially invalid warranty claim? They get paid for the work, correct? So if it could or should be fixed under warranty, wouldn’t they? Why deny it and risk damage to the brand, their reputation, and miss out on revenues?

I understand denying invalid claims or investigating potentially invalid claims but can’t see them alleging something like this unless it were unequivocally proven.

Like those before me, not saying OP is less than truthful but does feel like there’s more to the story. If it is in fact abused maybe there can be a compromise because it would have to be borderline intentional to burn up after so few miles.

Doesn't look dirty underneath like it's been abused. Either way I haven't read much issues with these tranny's and from what I've read they are pretty solid so I'm curious as to what could cause this.

I should clarify, this is the same dealership that I’ve unfortunately had the displeasure of working with before, I had a 2018 challenger which I wrecked in the rain (yes that’s stupid I know) and at this dealership not only was my vehicle hit by a random tow truck in the back lot while waiting for inspection, but the dealership also tried to hide it. So obviously I was pissed and snapped off at the service Manager who in return told me I wouldn’t be in this position if I hadn’t wrecked my vehicle. So I’m not necessarily on the best of terms with them. I would’ve gone to another dealership but the same person owns all the dealerships in and around town and with my transmission in the current state and me not knowing what was going on my first thought was to bring it to the nearest dealership. they came to the conclusion that it was abused because of how dirty it was. They also determined that the transmission failure was caused by excessive spinning, and accused me of mudding in the truck. I clarified that I work along the railroad, so solid couple thousand miles of this truck has all been on dirt and or gravel Resulting in it being so dirty but they just blew this statement off. BTW they washed the truck at the dealership, so this is after it being washed.

and I’m worried about what they reported because I am not sure what they reported, it was kind of sketchy, when I asked to see the conversation that the dealership had with the manufacturer I was told that it was “private information” which doesn’t make sense considering it’s MY truck they are discussing

And (On a side note) what does OP stand for?
Stands for original poster. i would take it to another dealer and get them to fix it. if denied again, get an attorney. I wouldnt worry about what they reported.
