Tow mode / ESP button issues

Hi All, Newby here !

Back in November I got an used 2019 Big Horn with the regular 5.7 and 26k miles. Pretty basic truck with the 8inch UConnect, and tow package. I am the second owner.
Since then I have put 2k miles and I have noticed that my Tow mode and ESP button are "disactivated" from the central console from time to time.
I cannot tell if there are any particular reasons or just a glitch in the system.

When they are "disactivated", they cannot be engaged, pressing the buttons does nothing: no changes in the transmission / shift points or indications on the dash.
When they are "activated", they work normally, the backlight is on and the function can be engaged / disengaged.
I read the Owner Manual and they dont mention any conditions these functions could be disactivated, I have plugged an OBD reader and there was no codes.
The truck drives fine but this will happen about once / week.

Have you experience a similar situation? Is it normal and those functions get "disactivated" due to external factors (temperature, tire pressure, etc.)

I cannot fine a reasons and my dealership was not able to replicate.

I have added pictures for reference.

Looks like a possible problem with the wiring going to that switch module, or the module itself - this video shows how the module is part of the dash/ U-Connect assembly. I would make sure that harness to the switches is fully latched and that the pins aren't bent, etc.

Hi Drew,

Thanks for the video. It seems pretty easy to remove.
As it is intermittent, I am unsure if it could be a wiring / fuse issue. It will work fine for like 1 week then not work for 1 day.
I just don't understand if there are external factors which could affect it...

On a day it doesn't work, I would see if you can make an impromptu trip to the dealer. It's silly to have to diagnose issues yourself on a new truck, but definitely don't go paying for new modules, etc. I mostly pointed that out in the event you want to take matters into your own hand.

To answer your question, no, those buttons should always work when you're driving. The only time buttons/ functions might not respond by design is on remote start.

Strange enough, it seems to be "disactivated" when the outside temp is over 100°F...
This week, parked in the sun in the afternoon, the dash showed 106 (yes, there is no winter in South Florida) and the button was disactivated and after driving a little it dropped under 100 and the functions came back. It could be just a coïncidence but I am keeping track of it.

@RamCares Do you know if there is any code embedded in the software to disactivate those functions based on certain conditions ?

Could also try taking your phone and take a video of it to show them. I had to do that when the LSD on my Jeep went out and the dealership tried to tell me it was working fine. Emailed them the video and they took care of it.
