I would recommend ceramic coating only after the front bumper is PPF'd. You'll want to have that done first as you'll get rock chips without it. Otherwise absolutely, ceramic coating is great. I always do it myself. Last kit I used was the Adam's Graphene Ceramic and it has performed great so far.

yes, I am starting to look into having the front PPF. Would you mind sending me some pics of your truck with it on (like close ups) I have the same color and my biggest worry is how much it will show. Im sure noone will notice it but me since ill know it is there. How has that ceramic coating held up? One that was recommended to me was the armor shield IX

I will have to take some close up pictures. None of the ones I have now show it. The PPF is really difficult to see on this color as far as I have noticed. I haven't heard much about the armor shield IX but like anything just do you research. Some good coatings I have heard of and/or used are the Adam's graphene, Gtechniq crystal serum light and cQuartz.

No worries whenever you have the chance I would appreciate it. Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the PPF?

I got the front bumper, panels under the headlights and the headlights for $550 before taxes.

You'll hardly see it unless you get up very close. Don't over think it...just do it!

This video will do a better job showing you what PPF looks like (or disappears like) on a granite crystal paint color.

anyone with the Rebel bumper try and have PPF applied? I have my doubts as it is textured vs the colour matched painted smooth bumpers...just want to protect it from stone chips somehow.

I know this is a hot topic but want to get guys opinions about ceramic coating..in theory it sounds great, I’m more worried about upkeep with cost..I know it will cost me around 800-1200 but I’m worried about it not lasting several years. What are your expierences with it and if you would do it again? Just for info I live in Chicago northwest suburbs (Midwest) so winters can be harsh and it will be stored outside. Thanks in advance
Where abouts are you? Thinking of doing the same and with ppf. Who you thinking of going with?

Northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL..I’ve decided to do the ceramic coating myself with a buddy. I’m picking probably either armorskin Ix or Adam’s graphene ceramic.. I just started looking at places to put on ppf so I am undecided

Very doubtful that PPF will be applied, with success, to a rough surface. I just had Xpel PPF put on my Laramie and they were very specific and clear on this point. Talk with a competent installer.

For what its worth, I just got done doing about half the truck. Dealer washed it, I stopped by my parents and then straight home (about 5 miles total). Iron Remover did not turn a color on the front end, indicating minimal iron particles on the paint. So I went straight to clay bar. Did the whole truck, minus roof. Then followed the instructions for the Adam's Ceramic Coat. I did fenders back, minus roof. Process was pretty straight forward. I'll probably go in early at work and take advantage of the large garage we have to do the roof tomorow night. Ill do hood and front after I get PPF done. For the life of me, I could NOT find swirls in my paint while the sun was up. I ran the polisher over one fender and could not see a difference so opted out of polishing. When the sun was down, and I had my work light set up, I saw minimal swirling and I was okay with my decision to ceramic coat over it. Definitely varies truck to truck, mileage, and im sure the hydro blue paint hides it also.

Edited to add truck porn 😁
Oh yea, rock that hydro blue baby.(y)

I received my bottles of Avalon King yesterday so I'm looking forward to doing this to my truck.

For those that have done this, should I do a single panel at a time, or 2x2 square? I think the 2x2 square will leave uneven edges from one section to the next, so I was thinking of a single panel at a time.

Also, I have decals on the hood. I can go right over those, right? It looks like it based on research I've done. I also want to go over the plastic on the hood, bedrails, wheel flares, B pillars and tailgate cover to protect them from fading.

Any advice is appreciated.

2X2 is highly recommend. You will not have any uneven edges unless you let it dry too long and then can't get it off. Do a 2X2 area...let it flash for 1-2 minutes and wipe off well. Then go to the next section and repeat. Don't over think it. Yes, you can go right over any decals and plastic.

What have you guys done to the Rebel bumpers? Anything? I will also do the grill, but don't think doing the bumpers is necessary since they're textured.

If you have left over product do the bumpers last. It sucks you can’t get them PPFd but I also don’t know if they chip like the painted bumpers on sport packages.

And even then, crazy detailer guys will ceramic coat the PPF hahah

And the crazy work truck guys, this is my account manager's truck. This is a day at the office.
We are in Northeastern NV. We have 2 seasons, muddy and dusty. My new truck is getting full PPF and then I will ceramic coat.
