I believe the wiring for the LED tachometer runs off the same fuse/circuit as the LED headlamps lights. If FCA filled your Limited LED headlamps with Bighorn halogen fluid then the RPM guage will always go to zero.

The tach should always show the actual engine RPM. When the start/stop engages, l can tell by looking at the tach. It's the start/stop is disengaged or unavailable, the tach shows my idle speed.

Mine is so seamless I actually have had to look at the tach. I agree if the engine is running. The tach will be above 500. If the tach is reading zero the engine is not running OR is broke.
I can definitely feel (not hear) mine shut off at times...almost feels like a gear change. The start is much smoother.
This happened to me today. The engine was still idling but the tach showed zero. When I accelerated away from the light, the tach jumped back up to the correct RPMs. There is definitely a software glitch involved with this. @RamCares

I've noticed the same thing, except when I take off again, the RPM's move from zero smoothly, which I found weird. My truck is in the shop as we speak for the RRT powertrain updates, I'm getting it back today so I'll report back asap if I notice it doing it again.

Mine does the same thing. The first time it happened I was stopped on a slight incline and thought perhaps that had something to do with it. But no, it happens occasionally when level too. Guess I will bring it up to the dealership again when I take it in for the recalls...
