The truck from hell

I've had a 2019 1500 for a little over a year now, I bought it with 24k miles on it, and currently I'm hovering around 38k miles. This truck has been nothing but problems. If I could walk away from this thing for what I owe on it I would do it and not even think twice about it. The biggest and most persistent problem that I'm having is a leak that keeps soaking the front passenger side carpet. I've had the truck in 3 separate times, the first time while it was still under factory warranty and all I can get from the dealership is "we sprayed water on it for a little bit and didn't see any leaks anywhere". I just got it back today from a different dealership who basically said the same thing and said that the ac drain line isn't clogged. I asked them if they would try to contact Ram directly and see what we can do here as this is a documented problem I've had since before the factory warranty ran out and they basically told me to pound sand, gave me the number to call and told me to do it myself. So I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck doing so or if you guys have any opinions or ideas what to check.

There is a thread on the ac drain, perhaps the dealership did not do a good job. From what I can recall it is not that difficult to deal with. I have not had a problem myself so I can not give more advice. Many have had unsatisfactory experiences with their dealerships.

There is a known seam in the drivers side wheel well/cowl area that causes a wet drivers side floor. I don’t have the tsb at the moment for it, but it’s out there.

If that’s the only problem you have, you might want to try a different dealer. Sounds like the current one doesn’t know how to research anything.

Edit: found it.

This is on the passenger side so I'm not sure if that tsb would be applicable

I've also had it at 2 different dealerships, the first 2 times were at the same place and then the third time was brought to a different dealer who "has a leak specialist"

When is the carpet getting wet? After a rain, when the AC is on, does it have a sunroof?

It’s definitely not rain related, I’ve gone out and checked after rain storms and it’s been bone dry….I’ve also gone out after rain storms and it’s been wet. I’m almost 100% sure it’s hvac related, I changed my cabin air filter this morning and it was soaking wet. I don’t know if ram customer service is the same as @RamCares but I was told by the dealership to call ram customer service and told them that it’s been doing this since before the truck was out of the original 3 year 36k mile warranty and they said they would not cover any diagnosing or fixing of this issue going forward or reimburse me for any of the diagnosing I’ve already paid out of pocket. Unreal. I have all the paperwork from the dealership so I have it documented that this is an ongoing issue that they never fixed while it was under warranty still

Its dry after rain then the next time its wet after rain. Cabin filter wet, the cabin filter sits above the blower motor. Water is entering the HVAC housing from above the filter to get it wet. Has the windshield ever been replaced?

I’m willing to bet that it is coming from the Sunroof.
Open the sunroof and look at the corners of the frame opening. You will see a little drain hole. These will get clogged. Take some weedeater line and run it down it. You will feel a little resistance about halfway down where it curves.
Do this and also use Canned Air to blow through it.
This should fix your issues.

I also think a few members had issues with the drain tubes not being connected properly and having leaks. If there were water present after every rainfall it would make diagnosing this a lot easier.

I sealed up around the antenna with some clear lexel and I removed and inspected the third brake light. The gasket was a little saturated but I could clear as day see the moisture hasn't made its way all the way thru it yet. I took the trim piece under the windshield wipers off and checked the drains under that and nothing was blocked up. We're supposed to have thunderstorms tonight so I will check it out tomorrow and see if anything is wet.
