Considering my Rebel currently is only getting 13 mpg mixed, I'm surprised how well it is. That's a heavier truck with a near heavy duty frame, 35" tires and 702 hp, 12 mixed is impressive.

Also note that the Rebel's mpg rating is BS, based on a blanket EPA rating that was done on RAMs with street tires and 3.21 rear axles. While the TRX had to do an EPA ratings cycle on it's own, it's probably accurate. So the difference is isn't that big in reality vs a somewhat closer 1500 spec truck (Rebel) with only a 395 hp Hemi.

Yeah I seriously doubt anyone was waiting for the MPG ratings to come out to make their decision on buying one lol.

Car and Driver tested one and said it averaged 9 on mostly highway driving, can't wait to see all the...OMG, my mileage sucks threads. I have no illusions on how bad it will be based solely on what my Redeye gets...it's got a fat a**, but not quite 6300lbs.

I guess if you have 70-100k for one you can afford to burn through the gas! But really didn’t we all expect this? Some of the 5.7s struggle to reach 15-16 (Rebels a lot of the time).

So? Even if 1MPG! TRX Buyers aren't concerned with MPG.

No, that would be he extreme, I think a TRX driver would be concerned about mpg, but they have more flexibility on the low range than the rest of us would.

I mean, if you told me I would be driving a truck that is averaging less than 13 mpg, I would have laughed at you. But here I am, though to be honest I work from home so the sting isn't as bad. My previous full size got me 17 mpg essentially on the same cycle, so I took quite a hit, but I'm fine with it. A lot of street driving and heavy pedal isn't great for good mpg.

Your average TRX will probably be lucky to break 10 mpg, more likely 8-9 mpg. Which to be honest, doesn't seem that bad for what it is.

ok, so if we take the 17 mpg vs. 13 mpg on an average 12k-15k miles per year you are going to spend between $400-$500 more annually on fuel.

If 17mpg vs 10 mpg it will be around $1,000 more annually.

For the same price & type of truck, that would be a no. For one that cost $90,000 that is essentially a supertruck, that extra on fuel isn't a big deal in the scheme of things.

We are talking about different types of trucks here. My 17 mpg truck was street oriented, 325hp engine on street tires. My 13 mpg truck is off-road oriented, 395hp engine on 33" A/T tires and 3.92 rear axle. The TRX is a baja style truck with 702hp engine on 35" A/T tires.

The fact it gets the mileage it's getting is actually not surprising. Then there is the question of who would daily drive a 702hp truck like that one? I think for a lot of owners, it won't be the vehicle they will be putting 12,000 miles a year on.

Average 12.4mpg out of 3.21 rear 1500 limited. I would probably give up 3mpg for just another 200hp....

Had a 18 Trackhawk and my multiple tank average (hand calculated using Fuely) was in the 9's. My 2019 Ram with the supercharged 426 is probably in the same ballpark or worse....haven't calculated yet. I average about 250 miles per tank (33 gallon). I am not complaining, and if you buy these types of trucks for mileage you are a fool, and is no different than the Karen that moves next to a farm or traintrack then complains of the smell and loud whistles.
