I have had this ARE cover on for a little less than 2 weeks and I am pleasantly surprised with over 1 MPG increase In fuel consumption. I have had many kinds of covers in the past that touted increase fuel mileage that never really materialized this one does. My 2018 ram also has a ARE cover but is designed with more of a spoiler in the rear this cover is shaped like the hood but reversed which I guess is making it more aerodynamic. My wife thinks it looks like a military vehicle.2DF37AE7-6EAB-43EF-8DDB-24FF59658E86.jpegE82D9B5A-69BB-4765-B142-5D8849BA7760.jpeg143261A8-8C7B-4230-BD00-67E26347B7B0.jpeg

Your pleasantly surprised with a 1 MPG increase in fuel consumption? I'd be surprised if the cover created any increase in fuel consumption.

Doesn’t sound right, I am getting 1 mpg better!!

Well I added more weight to the truck but all of a sudden I’m getting better than a extra mile per gallon? Must be magic😂
My comment was regarding you aerodynamic comment. Your cover is no more aerodynamic than my Retrax and most other covers on the market. Yep...must be magic dust they sprinkled on your cover😉

i agree when im on the interstate going 75-85 my gmc would get 1 mpg better than when i had the cover off of it.. a open bed with the tale gate up is turbulent

Take a closer look at the pictures of the cover your retract is flat, the ARE is not it’s high near the back window then tappers down. My 2018 also has a ARE that is totally different than the new one. No increase in MPG’s with my 2018. I have no other way to explain the increase in mileage.

I hear you but having a flat Retrax should be no different than your cover from this perspective. Mileage increases from any accessory item is always subjective as there are hundreds of variables that impact mileage and no two days or driving are ever exactly the same.

The 5th gen Ram was designed and shown in a wind tunnel with air going completely over the bed. No tonneau cover will help with aerodynamics or fuel economy.

More likely the change from winter gas blend to summer gas blend.RM019_041FNr5ua9almcgu6apns4nkivrf9lt.jpg

I think they did tailgate up Vs. tailgate down but same concept. Still no benefits from cover, just takes away from payload the heavier it is.
Vaguely remember them adding a hard cover. Maybe not. :)
