In cleaning my steering wheel with a clean damp cloth (water only) it seems like there is a coating on the steering wheel that has somewhat come off in places. Has anyone experienced this? This is not rubbing hard at all. Does anyone know of a way to "refinish" the steering wheel?

Sure, but you probably won't like it...

I'd check with an upholstery shop and see if they have a solution, besides recovering it.

Should be using a leather cleaner/conditioner not just plain water.

From my experience a new wheel installed by the dealer is around 250 dollars. If the wheel is that bad I would just get a new one
