Steering Sticking Left

My 2019 Rebel's Steering keeps intermittently sticking when turning left especially when cruising on the highway. It occasionally won't return to center. Even took a video to show the dealer. Dealer couldn't find anything and said they reset the values. Said they aren't that up on the new RAMS yet. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

Many reports on here. Using the sites’ search engine will bring this up. There is also a TSB for this. May be a poorly torqued ground. Hope it can be solved.

Sounds like it's the loose ground recall issue. Have it looked at asap.

Just picked up mine and it does the same thing. The recall is for a faulty ground that disables the power steering all together. Did you have any luck getting it fixed?

The recall for the faulty ground fixed a COMPLETE loss of power steering, not for the binding while turning left. From what I can gather this is being caused by something in the steering gear binding up, you'll probably end up getting a new steering rack. I wish I could tell you more about that issue, but my truck was one of the ones with the bad ground and I know that the ground being torqued down fixed it, I never experienced the binding issue.

Trucks At the dealership as we speak. Been there for 14 days now. Since I have a case number the dealer techs are in direct contact with FCA engineers. They keep trying stuff I assume to avoid a whole rack replacement but I think it’s inevitable. Guess I’m one of the first at this dealership so they say! Motor Trend Truck of The Year!!

Trucks At the dealership as we speak. Been there for 14 days now. Since I have a case number the dealer techs are in direct contact with FCA engineers. They keep trying stuff I assume to avoid a whole rack replacement but I think it’s inevitable. Guess I’m one of the first at this dealership so they say! Motor Trend Truck of The Year!!

Yes I am having the same issue my first happen at 600 mile and I have been to the dealer twice and they can't recreated the fault I have a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 only do it on the highway and at least 45 minutes of driving

How are you doing and thanks for reaching out I have a 2019 RAM 1500 TRADESMAN CREW CAB 4X4 (144.5 in WB 5 FT 7 IN box) I really like this truck and I have been complaining about my Steering when I had 600 miles and I am at 4584 miles now and I am still having this unsafe issue with my steering and I have been talking to Scott from FCA and reference number 59091648 and I have been to two different Dodge Dealerships Sport Durst Chrysler Dodge Jeep Truck Center 3621 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd (919) 425-2950 and they couldn't recreate the fault and I also took my truck to Capital Dodge 200 Waterfield Ridge Place Garner NC, 27529 (919) 582-0202

I have the same issue have been following threads on same issue I have also filed a complaint on the NHTSA web site they have a number of the same complaints there.Maybe help from numbers I don't know.

Noticed mine doing it on the way home from purchasing it. Hope my brand new truck doesn't end up sitting in the shop for days trying to get it figured out.

My truck has done this a few times. I reported it to my service department and they were not able to duplicate the problem (of course). They signed off my complaint as "Inspect G926A and G2A ground locations. Remove the ground, clean both surfaces with emory cloth or scotch brite to remove paint and any corrosion. Ensure there is good solid metal-to-metal contact and reassemble." We'll see if it comes back. It doesn't do it often, so maybe it was a ground problem. I would expect that if it was a steering rack problem; then it would happen regularly and could be duplicated on demand.

Thankfully it was within warranty so I took it back to the dealer (multiple times until they were able to reproduce the issue) and the dealer finally replaced the steering rack and pinon. No issues since replacement. Hope this helps!

Glad to hear you Ram was fixed. I had the same issue of the steering sticking at highway speeds and only during left hand turns. During the 6k, 12k, and 18k service I was told by the dealer that the issue didn’t exist. Finally, got RamCare involved and three reps and three weeks back at the dealership and the dealership duplicated the issue. To the point that the tech stated,”when it stuck on my drive home it scared the sh%t out of me.” They decided to replace the rack and had one ordered. I was told it was going to be repaired the day after Christmas and I would get it back. The day after Christmas I got a call and was told that because my truck has a leveling kit on it they, engineers, denied the replacement of the rack. Somehow there is a chance that a leveling kit could cause internal damage to a rack. Even though the issue is noted on my account at the 6k service, prior to the leveling kit. I was told to come get my truck and nothing would be done. When I asked RamCare how could you put a truck with a known steering defect back on the road the response was I should write a letter or return the truck the factory and then bring it back. Way to stand behind your product. Been a Ram/Jeep loyal for 15 years, but after this experience this will be my last.
