2019 Ram 1500 Laramie, 12k miles, no auto start/stop, non etorque
When nearly stopped and upon releasing brakes from a stop the truck stutters and gives a distinct jolt. Almost feels like stomping the breaks before coming to a complete stop. Anyone else? Feedback?

Same here seems to get worse with mileage. Almost 5k now, there was another post on this issue I believe it's u-joint or bearing related problem?

Mine's been doing this since 5000 miles. I got a new drive shaft under warranty around 8500, which solved it for 400-500 miles. It's back now. It has not gotten any worse, but it's also annoying. I had a recent software update applied on Monday at the dealer for the powertrain, which did not solve it either.

Hi Notyabunnis & Thatsme06,

We certainly understand why this would be concerning. We recommend having this diagnosed by your local Ram dealers if you have not done so already, as they are in the best position to provide assistance. Please let us know via private message if you decide to have your dealers look into this. We would like to have this documented and have cases escalated in your behalf so we can connect you with Case Specialists who can provide an additional layer of assistance as you work with your dealers.

Hi HKP7PSP,

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this concern as well. If it would be of interest, we would be happy to escalate a case on your behalf to have this documented and so that we can connect you with a case specialist who will be able to work alongside your dealer to find a potential solution. Please follow up with us via PM to proceed in this manner.

I had similar issues and the dealership perform a TCM flash per TSB 21-002-91 REV. A. The shifting is 95% better now.

I had a similar problem and it was the drive shaft which was replaced under warranty

How many miles since they replaced yours? Mine got replaced, and 400 miles later, the same bump was back.

Have a description of that tsb by chance?
Unfortunately I don't. I had originally requested a different TSB (21-005-19 REV. B for "software enhancement for low pedal kick-down bump and coast down downshift") so don't have any info on the one they actually did.

Same issue here 2019 Ltd. 9,500 miles. Took it to Ram dealer and of course they didn't feel the clunk. It feels like a linkage slack or bump when accelerating. It does it about 75% of time. The dealer did a TCM update and it did not help. Very frustrating on a $67,000 truck.

Mine is back at the dealer as of today. They called me to say the foreman is working on it again like last time, since he's familiar with the history of it doing this. He was going to check backlash in the rear diff last I heard, and if that was good, to open another STAR case. I'm in a Challenger R/T rental paid for by the dealer, so I'm not terribly upset for now. :)

I had the same thing then it stopped after the TCM flash....for about two weeks. This morning it was bumping like crazy. This will be the problem that makes me sell this truck and never look to FCA again.

Alright, heard back from my dealer today. After two days of testing by the shop foreman and calls with STAR, they believe it's the drive shaft once again (this was replaced in June for the same issue, for those who don't want to go read all my posts). The foreman inspected my differential, transfer case, transmission and anything else before circling back to the shaft being the culprit. His thoughts are that the slip yoke internally within the rear portion of the driveshaft was inadequately lubricated at the factory, and they are a sealed unit. This sounds like exactly what happened on those Jeep Gladiators that are under a recall for this very problem (same supplier too, Dana). Parts are on order, so I'll probably find out if it fixes things once I return from a company trade show next week.

The parts listed on my repair order show they ordered some type of slip yoke boot kit - presumably they will disassemble the drive shaft and re-grease it properly with this kit.

Thanks for the update. Please keep us posted on the fix. Mine is currently doing this now and I’m putting it in the shop on Monday to get the PCM and TCM flashed. It seems from what I read that this won’t fix it.

I have had this issue since day 1. It's been in three times and I even had the service manager (head guy) ride in the truck with me. He acknowledged the bump but told me it is a characteristic of the 8 speed transmission. The 9 speed in the Pacifica is worse. He had them check for the TCM update that was spoken of, it was flashed. I double checked about the Pacifica and there are complaints all about it. He told me that the trans is a giant computer that shifts fluid. Once the truck learns how you drive consistently, it adjusts to your driving. But if you have a day where your lead footing it, the trans will have that 2-1 bump delay, because it's trying to anticipate which gear and part of the power band your foot will demand before you start accelerating. This reduces the "lag" time at acceleration. If it's wrong, when you put your foot on the pedal, it will quickly shift to the right band, causing the "bump" to meet your foots demand.

That was 3 almost 4 months ago. Since then, I've noticed it maybe a hand full of times. And wouldn't you know, it's usually when I am driving it more aggressively then I normally do at acceleration.

Just my experience/opinion on the matter.
