The issue with the Rams and shifter knobs goes back years. I have a 2013 and it was recalled for this same exact issue however, I was told at the dealer that the software needed to fix this issue wasn't "developed" yet. Only 2015 and above could be fixed but that FCA was working on issue. Since your truck is new they should have software for this issue.

Update: The RAM just did the lunge thing again. My dealer has no clue unless they spend days with it in the shop and call their technical HQ. I am 90% sure I'm going to return it to the dealer and get my trade back. Love the truck but not under these conditions.

Hi KILMAL,

I am terribly sorry to hear that experience you've had with your new Ram. I understand how this must be frustrating for you. If you are in need of additional assistance while your Ram is in service, I would like to create a case on your behalf to document what you've described. Please send us a private message if you decide to return to the dealer for this concern.

I hope it all works out for you...and maybe they come with a quick and accurate fix.

Thanks so much Darlene!! I am going to keep the RAM and let my dealer or another dealer work it out. I’ve a call into them to setup a time to look it over further.

I’ll message you separately.
Thanks again,
Doug

FYI my 14 Limited RAM 1500 lunged forward when you put it in gear. Didn't matter if it was warm or cold, my wife wouldn't drive it cause it scared the $hit out of her. It was never fixed before the truck was bought back for other reasons. My 16 didn't do it.

I have had my 2019 Ram a little over a week. I too had a problem of the parking brake not releasing some of the time. I could still manually release it by pushing the button. It seemed to do it randomly and I couldn't get it to do it again when I did pay full attention. However I think have found the reason. It always happens when Im in a rush, like after a bank heist or escaping from my angry wife. On page 297 of the manual there is a condition called Safehold that parking brake engaged. If your like me and you jump in and havent fully closed the drivers door and/or latched the seat belt then when you shift to reverse or drive the brake won't release. If the driver door has not fully closed and/or the driver seat belt has yet to be fastened and you start the truck there is a condition called Safehold that occurs. Its described on like page 297 of the manual. Safehold won't automatically release the parking brake but we can manually.

They are putting a new transmission in your 19 Ram? Holy S*** that would freak me out.

That freaks you out? Why? I had a 99 Lightning that had a complete engine swapped out with less than 3,000 miles on it. No big deal...... That's what the warranty is for.....

I've read that the ZF trans is always replaced not repaired if there is an issue.

Big repair on a brand new truck that has been recently released freaks me out. What exactly is wrong with yours?

I had a tranny swapped in a different car I owned by a dealership and it never drove the same.

Just waiting for the over the air Uconnect update. BUT, if something does fail, I'll let the dealer fix or replace whatever it is. I just don't fret over stuff like that.

I'm dealing with a possible heart valve replacement. That's something I could start to fret over......

Dont freak over that they just slap a pig value in ya and stick ya back up. I would be more worried about my transmission
