Dont freak over that they just slap a pig value in ya and stick ya back up. I would be more worried about my transmission
You and I have completely different outlooks on life. My brother in law had one of those "simple" procedures...... Didn't wake up...... I could give 2 hoots about a car/truck repair. That's way down on my concern list.....

Procedure doesn't go as planned then someone dies....if the tranny doesn't get fixed, you get an Uber...signifcant difference. Best of luck @Jus Cruisin. I share your views on the importance of this truck and possible flaws...It is never lost that my problems are beyond 1st world problems.

I need a little input on whether or not there is a real repair for this problem... About 5 out of 10 times i put this truck in Drive, it does NOTHING. Nothing clicks and it acts as if its still in Park. Only when i slowly depress the pedal does it pop into gear and lunge forward. This is not good nor safe. Ive 500 miles on the truck already and am about ready to return it if there is no real fix for this issue. Open to opinions and input! Thanks, Doug
I just bought a new RAm 1500 two weeks ago and I am having the same issue. The dealer looked at it and said that there was too much tranny fluid in the system. they claimed to fix it. they delivered the truck back to me and the very first time I went to drive it, it did the very same thing. It is quite alarming when it happens. It happens in reverse as well as in drive. The truck only has 150 miles on it.

Hi KILMAL,

I am terribly sorry to hear that experience you've had with your new Ram. I understand how this must be frustrating for you. If you are in need of additional assistance while your Ram is in service, I would like to create a case on your behalf to document what you've described. Please send us a private message if you decide to return to the dealer for this concern.

Hi, I'm states away with my new 2018 ram truck. Had 22 miles on it when I left home to visit my folks. I got here and my truck is in the shop as we speak for what appears to be same issue. My truck left me stranded blocking both lanes of traffic because I was trying to back into a driveway. It wouldn't shift into reverse. I tried to shift it back into drive and nothing. I was I a very dangerous situation when the street light changed & vehicles were coming at me. Sad thing is I just picked it up from the dealer in this town because of this issue. They did an update on it & said problem should be fixed. Quickly I found it wasn't. I've been stranded now 3 weeks because I'm in a loaner vehicle & I cant even leave the state to go home. Feeling frustrated! My truck just wont always shift. Then after a few minutes it will start shifting again. Not kicking any codes. Dealership is clueless. I'm frustrated!

I’d like to know as well.
So I took it to the dealer and they contacted the engineering department and they said that it was the valve body in the tranny. due to the truck being so new though the whole tranny had to be replaced. It did fix the problem but I am unhappy with what is going on with this new truck already needing a new transmission. I opened a complaint with chrysler and they pretty much told me to F off. terrible customer support. I am having a meeting with the area manager to get the whole truck replaced. This fault has put a bad taste in my mouth and i am not happy with what the truck has started doing since the new transmission. lots of flux in RPMs even had my horn randomly honk and flashers go off.

Well that is certainly a disconcerting ending @the09nance . How often did it happen for you? I've had it happen one time thus far. Definitely have me nervous now.

I had it happen about 5 times until I called and made the appointment. If it does it once to you I think you should still take it in

just want everyone to know that is seems that I am have a torque converter issue now. I was driving it last night and around every shift point the truck would vibrate something awful and it sounded like I was in a whale watching cruise.

Similar thing here, just custom ordered a 2019 and it gets stuck in park occasionally. So far putting it in reverse and very slightly backing up will allow it to release the parking brake though and then i can place it in drive and can drive forward. My wife is totally freaking out though and I don't really blame her. I thought it might have to do with the angle of the vehicle...it's typically happened on rather flat ground though. It did release very roughly while angled forward once. We've already been to the dealer once and had similar results as everyone else...no clue. Hopefully RAM can get their engineers on this and figure this out. This is how loyal customers end up going elsewhere.

Just updating my situation. My wife went back to the dealership to pick up the license plate today and dropped by the service department once more to let them know it was still having problems and to make sure that the issue was recorded in some type of service ticket. I am normally a patient person but the last few times I tried to be patient with companies it didn't fair well for me. She was very upset when we met up because there wasn't much they could do without knowing exactly what the problem is. She was told that without some sort of error code they wouldn't be able to fix it but from my experience not all issues have error codes or can even be autonomously determined to be errors. I believe this is one of the latter cases. If the parking brake is stuck in the way then the truck is just going to see that as being up against a rock or curb. Given that information I chose to attempt to reach out to the FCA group in hopes they would help to get me on the right track to a resolution. Even so I have found myself awake in the middle of the night writing an update and my head reeling over this issue with my brand new truck.

Okay, I thought I was going nutz - I have the same issue: put it in drive and truck doesn't move when I press the gas, and then it lunges! It's happened to me a few times now, and when I brought it to the dealer I had the same thing said to me; without codes and without it doing it when I bring it in there's nothing they can do.

The last time it did it, I put it in reverse and then back in drive and it worked - but for the love of god - c'mon this is a brand new 60K truck!

This has happened to me on 2 or 3 occasions... gets stuck in park occasionally. Every time putting it in reverse and slightly backing up and then going back to Drive works like a charm.

It hasn't bothered me enough to bring it in yet, I am hoping the next system flash will fix the problem. I will keep everyone posted it it gets worse.

Mine is also a 60k truck... at this point there's no telling whether this is an issue with quality control of a part such as a parking mechanism or some sort of software issue. My gut says look at the mechanical stuff especially since the are so few of us complaining but that means they first need to open up a problem child and take a peek. I volunteer to have my tranny switched for them to take a look if they'll give me a nice jeep until they get it fixed. :p
