This is the same exact thing that I am experiencing. Did you end up finding a fix for it? The dealer has been unable to replicate even though it has happened to me 5 times now with less than 1000 miles.THanks again and i thought it was odd that they couldnt check the tranny fluid level too. And yes, i did cycle back and forth to Park a time or two and it never went into Drive until i accelerated. I did test out the Parking BRake too. This is functioning fine as far as i can tell. When the issue happens the dash Park Brake red light is NOT illuminated. I will get it to a different dealer for sure if it keeps up. Thus far, it hasnt acted up since i took to dealer here in Crestwood KY. Thanks again to each of you. Doug
From my exeperience, replacing the transmission fixed the issue. Someone is going to be seriously injured or die if Ram doesn’t fix this problem. This is the same exact thing that I am experiencing. Dropped mine t the dealer today and picked up a loaner car. I do not want to put off a needed visit. Something like this could definitely hurt someone or cause an accident.
I just got a call from the service department and I was advised they could not get my truck to replicate the problem. He advised they checked their system and my truck was not listed for any type of recall or update. He said just drive it and call when it happens again. I am not sure what that is supposed to do since they did not find the problem this time.
I would think with as many times as others have had this issue, they would have a fix by now. I kind of have this feeling I am going to get to know the service department well.
Did your ECM show any kind of error code, or did it simply convince them there truly was a problem? I am going to show the service guy your reply regarding what they did to repair yours. I told him there were several people on the Ram Forum who had the same problem and I told him about the noted solutions. He said they checked for updates on mine and found none available. When was yours built? Thanks
No codes and in fact after they brought it in they couldn't replicate againoc course. They found the updates on the tsb numbers I listed above and ran them. Once my service advisor witnessed the issue first hand, he immediately said "you need to leave this with us.". I'm hopeful this fixed it, but confident otherwise they will not ignore me at my place.
Good luck!
This is always something to check for. However, the problem for many happens regardless of this. My parking brake has never been set to auto/on.Hello all,
I recently had this happen in my 19 Bighorn. I did some experimenting and found that if you have the “auto brake” turned on from the control screen, where the parking brake engages/disengages automatically the parking brake WILL NOT release automatically without your seatbelt being buckled. It appears to be a safety mechanism. It also WILL NOT automatically disengage if the drivers door is ajar.
Happened to mine as well. Seems like it happens at least once on a daily basis. I actually have a claim with warranty because I have a burn mark that was done during paint and overlooked until after purchase. I loved the truck, took a big gulp, and bought it, but it’s been aggravation since I bought it. Less than 1,000 miles and nothing but trouble. After reading these post I am contacting the dealership again.
