Running Boards or Not?(Pics Needed)

I kept going back and forth as to whether to get them but I'm close to sure I'm going to go without....IMO the 19's look better without the side steps . I know they are for functionality not just looks to but 85% of the time it's just going to be me in the truck....kids are older & driving now and wife has own car. The drop down power steps would be ideal but for the $$$$ not worth it.

I personally like running boards/sliders, from both the aesthetic and functional perspectives. Like others have said, not the easiest of choices.

I liked the Amp power steps - who doesnt want a rose petal entry and exit, especially if you could sync them up with some theme music, however, I wanted something that was out all the time and provided some rocker panel protection. They had to be black or be able to be powder coated and I wanted some grip and durability.

I settled on the GoRhino D6 Dominators for about $440. My son and I put them on, I needed to assess his basic mechanical skills...a lot of work ahead of me. Thank heaven for youtube.

Went with the Mopar Off-road boards (Part#82215508AB) over the Go rhino RB10s. Both looked great, just liked how these were aluminum and had the bed coating all over, even underneath. The brackets have an e-coating as well. Super easy install that took about an hour taking our time. They’re solid and I’m very happy with my decision. Now my kids will be able to climb in, and my seats won’t get torn from people sliding out of the truck.

More of an off-road look. Great design, bolted up without any fuss - rock solid and the price is right too.

I have the mopar boards. They are wide enough and don’t feel awkward when getting into the truck.

Save your money and get the AMP research power steps, they look clean and function very nicely. I wanted them on my last truck and splurged for them on this truck. I really enjoy them and so do my girls getting in and out of the truck. I m 6'2" and the stationary boards never worked for me, but the Amp power steps do. I would buy them all over again!
I agree, I recommend saving up for them.

I went back and forth as to whether to get them or not, thinking I could just use the entry/exit mode of the air suspension. In the end I decided to get them but the AMP were on back order and dealer fitted Mopar ones instead, just the same though. Really glad I did, makes getting in and out really easy in Normal height (Rebel so +1 on other models?) without having to wait while it airs down.

Far superior in height and distance from the truck than fixed ones I've had in the past making getting in/out really easy. They look neat when folded in and don't affect the look of the truck. Also a great novelty making getting in even more joyful, still not worn off a month in. If you get the optional dash button (my Mopar are on uConnect) then you can also put them out when parking to help stop parking dings.

I put the mopar gloss black running boards on mine look great and have a very thin side profile so they don't really stand out

Call me old school but I like these. Inexpensive, great quality, love the look and functionality and installed them myself in about hour and a half. Duratrek 4 inch oval side steps. Paid just under $300 for them.

Very well said! My girls didn't like the stationary ones because it was a longer step up. I hated the stationary ones because I'm over 6 foot and it felt awkward using them. Glad I got them, but would have considered the Mopar ones. Thanks for sharing.

Not really a fan either but, with the kids and my 5' wife, I ended up with the Westin Pro Traxx 4. I looked at the AMP but there is no way I would spend that much and I do use the steps while the doors are closed. The really cool thing is they bolt right up to the factory mounts. They look fine for what they are and are less than 250 bucks on Amazon.

RC Nerf Steps. Sit tight, high profile. Not very useful for size 14 boots, but the girlfriend finds them necessary to stepping in. 0C41CE26-6849-48E2-A837-3B65041ED43A.jpegF4F1D60B-A516-4B4F-A4FF-DC74BB03A1BA.jpeg7363EF68-CDC3-447C-85B1-B05D80383CAA.jpeg

The one thing I had forgotten about when I bought my 14 Sport was door dings. Most truck folks seem to be pretty careful around other vehicles but the little P-pot drivers aren't. The good news is the running boards are generally high enough to fend them off. That's why the Mopar ones were ordered on my new truck and not the Amps.

Personally I'm not a fan of running boards but these Aries AdvantEdge boards are starting to grow on me. I suffer from OSF disorder (old short and fat) anjod I needed a leg up LOL. Hoping they protect the doors a little bit too. Might have tucked them in too close when I put them on, 20190817_153043.jpgmay move them out an inch or two once I get used to the look of having running boards.

Aftermarket running board business must be a real money maker! Half of us admitted to not liking running boards but buying them anyways lol. Seems like the one product you can sell to people who don't even want them. Kind of like doctors and colonoscopies LOL.
They seem to be more of a necessity than a want. I keep telling my wife, my next one will be taller :D

I’m 6’2” and wear a size 15EEEE shoe so I needed steps that would accommodate the feet lol. Went originally with Mopar stationary ones and then the wifey (5’1”) gifted me a set of Amp Research ones. Of course now she owns the truck so it worked out well for her. :)

Smart woman!!! They seem to play chess and are moves ahead of us all the time!!!
