Running a -51 Offset

Anybody on here running a -51 offset. Looking at getting a pair of 22x12 -51 Offset Wheels on 33x12.5 Tires. Just wanted to see a picture of a setup with this offset to see if this would be a ridiculous look or if it would look okay.

What do you mean by ridiculous? If you mean nearly half your tire outside of the wheel well then yes it will look ridiculous.

Is that about how much will be outside? I was thinking it would only be about 2 - 2.5”. If its gonna b close to 6” then no shot in hell im gonna get them then.

I think I can confidently say you’d be more than 2-2.5 inches. A -51 would be a huge offset. This truck is a -76. So compare this and the post above and that’s about what you’ll get. 1605842309804.png

-51 is only 7mm further out...if I'm not mistaken 24.3mm equals 1 inch...so -51 would be about 2" out from 0 offset

You also have to add in some extra width of the tire if they are going with a wider wheel/tire package.

Im going to go with a 22x12 wheel. 33x12.5R22 Tire. How much wider do you think this will be?

The offset is -25

put in your current wheel specs, the new wheel specs and hit calculate. will give you the difference.

If you want to know how to check for any difference between wheels/tires the math is easy:

Stock wheel I'm assuming you have 20x9 with +19 offset. 25.4 mm = 1 inch, 12.7 mm = 1/2 inch. Technically there is about a 1/2" lip on each wheel, but since almost all wheels have this I ignore it to make the math easier.

9" wide wheel with 0 offset the hub is centered so 4.5" backspacing toward the truck. +19mm offset moves it away from the truck so you have 4.5" + 19mm or about 5.25" backspacing. 3.75" of the wheel sticks out from the hub away from the truck.

12" wide wheel with 0 offset centers the hub with 6" of backspacing toward the truck. -51 offset moves it toward the truck so it's 6" - 51mm or about 4" of backspacing. 8" of the wheel sticks out from the hub away from the truck. Without changing tire width you're already sticking the tires out 4.25" farther by changing the wheels to those specs

If you get a wider tire it just changes by however much wider one side of the tire is (33" wide from 31" wide means you have 1" more sticking out).

This will work for any wheel/offset. If you had a 12" wheel with -24 offset you just change the numbers to make it 6" - 24mm or about 5" of backspacing. 7" sticks out from the hub, so roughly 3.25" farther out than stock.

Honestly, if you get wheels with that much negative offset and/or add spacers into the mix you're just making your hubs a ticking time bomb by putting a lot of undue stress on them. You're moving the force of the wheels holding the truck up farther out away from the hub, causing higher torque on them. Ever had a wheel fall off while driving? It's not fun.
