Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

I have no idea and I wouldn't even know how to look up a fuel tank for an 2019 2018 redo.

Apparently you are correct! It only fits:

2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Big Horn Crew Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Big Horn Extended Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Big Horn Std Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Express Crew Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Express Extended Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Express Std Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Lone Star Crew Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Lone Star Extended Cab
2019 Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI V8 Classic Lone Star Std Cab

Oh well HOPEFULLY the price will come down in a year or so. I would love to have mine swapped out. To me it would be worth a grand when all said and done. I wouldn’t pay any more than that though, it’s not THAT inconvenient.

I will do this at some point. I will install it myself and have the dealer flash the new sales code or whatever it is called. After having the 32 in my 11 Hemi I can't stand the 8 gallon tank in my 19.

I agree, it’s really nice when you go on long trips not having to stop for fuel every 15 minutes. LOL

I'm thinking about doing this also. Went to mymoparparts.com today and they are saying the 33 gallon tank is no longer available? Looks like you would also need a couple other parts (hose vent $42.09, hose return line $31.91, Clip Fuel tube $4.60 & one strap $19.84) for the conversion. Looks like everything else is the same, even the fuel pump. Don't know if you would need to have the computer re-flashed, fuel pump is the same? Maybe it's not available because they can't keep up with demand of new trucks??

Just checked a couple other mopar parts sites and it looks like the 33 gallon part number has changed from 68408876AB to 68408876AC? The price from Mopar America is $426.80 for the tank. So doesn't look like it would be that expensive to change over to the larger tank.

when i checked with my dealer a few weeks ago they quoted me $700 for the tank alone

I wouldn't buy it from a local dealership, they want to much. If I get one it will be from an online Mopar site.

I called dealership to inquire about this 2 wks after i bought my truck and they told me it cant be done something about not having the right software for puter

And the fact that they said the software would not read the gas tank properly and said it wouldnt read on the gauge cluster properly or sum bs like that ... Im thinking about making the swap regardless, i drive alot of cross country trips and pulling over every 3 minutes is a pain ...otherwise I LOVE THIS TRUCK but the gas mileage and gas tank fkn suck

All they need to do is enable the sales code for the large gas tank. Just like any other code (trailer brake controller, bed lighting, etc.) that will enable the proper indications in the cluster.

If this could be done for $500-600, all-in, I'd absolutely retrofit a 33 gallon tank into my Rebel. I absolutely love my truck, but the economy is atrocious and I do road trips with friends towing our Jeeps. I would undoubtedly be "that guy" who has to stop for fuel at nearly every opportunity. I would carry a jerry can with me just in case I push it too far, but it'd be nice to simply have the larger tank to extend the range.

Bumping this to see if anybody has updates?

I called the dealer by my house ( I originally bought this truck in Denver Co and those are the dealers I called last yr in Sept) pretty much stumped the dealer near me they "have" 3 people doing research on if this is possible lol
