Remote Mount Oil Filter

Got my first couple drips from the PacBrake kit. Guessing it's the O-rings, seems to be the spot for them to leak from.

Went ahead and ordered the ones referenced above. My next oil change will probably be in a week or two, so I'll replace them then.

Did you have the earlier HP10363 or newer HP10596 kit?

How many miles on the PacBrake kit before the leak?

What's your oil pressure look like at cold start vs warmed up?

I know it's difficult to do because of the location of original filter, but it is important to torque the fittings to the numbers specified. Many O ring failures come from overtightening.
If you are going to do an install I highly recommend a torque wrench and crow's feet.
I was able to torque every fitting with the crows feet and a good assortment of ratchet extensions.
Dexterity helps! :p

I'm betting mine is the older style kit, whichever number that is. I've had it awhile now.

It has to be 30k + miles if I had to guess. I know I installed it prior to my warranty expiring, and I'm coming up on 75k miles. It was not leaking at the last change and nothing made it to the ground.. I was under the truck for other reasons and noticed the small drips on the back of the skid plate. ..followed it up and it was coming from where the PacBrake meets the OEM oil filter mount.

Do not recall oil pressure on either, but I believe I posted a picture after people started thinking that was an issue. I do know my pressures were fine and have been fine since.

Thanks for the replies.

HP10596 Kit showed up today... Looks much better/substantial than the pictures give it credit. There's one more available for $242 still at CspRacing for those on the fence.

Too cold for an install this weekend, maybe next.

What filter are you using in this pic?

Found the PacBrake HP10596 kit on sale for $242 at CspRacing with code "Xmas" ...

They show 2 more in stock for anyone looking. (mine shows it shipped 36hrs later ... ie today).

It seems to be out of stock at the PacBrake recommended sites, and I came across one eBay seller that mentioned both part # kits in the listing before finally getting confirmation it was the older superceded kit # xxx363. Along with this reply after some proding ...

... " The HP10596 has Fluorosilicone o-ring material for the adapter seals, whereas the HP10363 (now discontinued and superseded by the HP10596) had BUNA o-rings. "

---------------

Also ordered the Fumoto valve, F106SX
(with tube kit)

For reference later...

@Carlos.33193 posted the following oRings earlier at post 258 as replacements for the earlier PacBrake HP105363 kit but I wanted to have them added to my post to find them again later if needed for the the HP10596 kit.

Well, I finally got the PacBrake HP10596 kit and Fumoto F106SX installed last weekend. No more looking like a Rorschach test when I drain the oil.

It was a bigger pain in the a$* than the directions and install videos let on.

I made... 3/4" & 7/8" Stubby wrenches from extras I had (~ 5-6" long)... Really wish I had a stubby 1-1/4"
Picked up a set of crow's foot wrenches with 7/8, 3/4 and 1-1/4 sizes (1-1/4 was about useless)... Made due with a 1-1/4" socket, universal & extensions.

- For me, i found I needed to test install and torque down as many of the 90deg elbows onto the remote Mount & adapter as possible (& Outside adapter hose) outside of the truck and then install it. This required me to install /remove the setup 2 or 3 times and mark the 90's where they needed to be set. I was surprised with how much force, 38-40ft/lbs is on the AN & hose fittings... Thought I was going to strip something out.

- The filter adapter with outer hose had to be installed as a unit and then locked down without the center 90deg fitting. Then installed the center 90, lined it up and locked it down with the 2 stubby wrenches by hand with a few 'grunt pounds' of force.

- I also found that, IMO, the filter mount is about 2" to high and I didn't like the hoses bending up to the remote Mount, which also made them rub against the other lines. I drilled a new set, 2" lower which made the hoses align/fit better IMO. (See pictures).

- Total install time for me was about 4.5 - 5 hrs and even with the truck up on the ramps in off road mode, was difficult to work in that space/install. My step dad said I looked like that Aussie break dancer lady (RayGun) spinning around/contorting constantly for better access... And I felt it the next day!

- Oil pressure dropped about 3-4psi across the board with same oil and OEM Mopar MO-339 filter (PN: 04892339BE. See before/after below).

Other filter options from others in this thread ..
WIX 57063 Spin-On Filter (same as SRT filter SRT-MO-041 PN: 5038041AA w/o Mopar Price)

I definitely like the smoother, cleaner look of the oil lines with your filter mount lowered 2" on the frame mount! I may do this to mine at some point also.👍

Well, I had the remote setup and yes, its a nice clean look and no mess, the down size, PSI drops from the usual 53-56 psi at 65-70 mph, to below 50 psi, even though the best product out there PACBRAKE, says its in spec. I'm not going to trust that. So, back to the crappy stupid engineered position and mess.

I feel more research needs to be done
But if you do take it off, I will take it off your hands, for the price of shipping as it is used.

the other issue as well with the pacbrake lines, they tend to leak after a time. torque setting whatever on the hose end couplings, mine leaked.
