Does anyone know what the details of the MS-12991 spec is? I asked Pennzoil and they told me that I had to talk to FCA. I said that if your making the oil to the Material Standard then you should know what the details of the spec are. Of course they couldn't answer me. Im wondering if it's proprietary info.....🤷

Why are people not talking about Quaker State Euro that clearly meets the spec, and cost less than any other mentioned oil? Also it can be readily found on the shelves of our local Wal-Mart in 5qt Jugs.

Rumor has it, that oil can be found at clearance prices at various Walmarts across the country. Crazy to think they are discontinuing it already after such a short life span?

I found this thread today, so I hope it is still active. I'm approaching 2500 miles in my 2022 Limited 1500, and want to change the factory fill oil. Looking at the Amsoil website, the data for 5w-40 EFM is the following. Chrysler is not included in that viscosity. Am I missing something?

Not every Manufactures/Brands wants to pay for all the certifications. Though it would likely do the job id personally pass on using it just due to the label on the bottle. That gives RAM a card to play the moment something goes wrong with the truck, they can simply blame it on you using the "wrong" oil.

There is a list floating of the approved oils somewhere but the ones I've found most available are QuakerState 5w40 (Walmart occasionally) and then Id order Pennzoil Platinum Euro off of Amazon.

Redline 5w40 I recently saw qualifies as well but that is super $$$! $65 a gallon!

I've seen the 5 quart bottle of the correct Pennzoil Platinum (ecoDiesel) at an Advance Auto or two...and at a decent price.

That’s where I’ve been getting mine all year. This last oil change I ran T6 though, and I’m doing an oil analysis on it in 2100 miles.

OEM from dieselfiltersonline.com. Typically order a few at a time as they aren't always available. Same with fuel filters from them.
rockauto has had them in as well. I use dieselfilters and rockauto. done with amazon for any autoparts.
