Rear window surround crack.

So I was driving with family in the rain the other day and was told by my passenger the rear window was leaking. I take the truck in and they scheduled an appointment. While I was looking at it I noticed a crack in the top plastic window surround called the service advisor who said he thought it was supposed to be like that. I go see a friends and notice not crack. Took the truck back in today and the parts manager then comes looks at it and says oh yeah that’s not normal. And we will probably have to order an entire new rear window. What is going on with the quality control with Ram these days.

Just got mine from the dealer yesterday for the same thing. It seemed like it just appeared one day. I would take it to the dealer as soon as you can. they fixed mine under factory warranty. But took over two weeks to get it fixed.

I finally was able to get the dealer to realize it wasn't suppose to be like that and am taking it in Tuesday. They claim they have the rear window in stock and said it all has to be replaced. I have only had the truck 2 months so it is under warranty.

Mine isn't actually cracked, but there is a very faint line on the surface of the plastic there, that sort of follows where your crack is. Something tells me the mold for this item puts a deficiency of some kind in that area, leading to cracks. We'll see if mine ends up cracking or not.

Mine's cracked too, and I have the squealing brakes now. Good times.

Just curious, what are all of your guys build dates with the cracks?
Mine is also a June2018 build and I have two cracks, one on either side of the slider. I only noticed it after reading about the issue on this forum. Thanks to all for sharing. Will be taking it in for repair at first chance. Luckily, it so far appears to only be cosmetic, no leaks.

Mine is two cracks as well. It first started out not leaking any more than a drip but has now progressed to pretty significant water intrusion.

Sorry to hear that. I was debating whether to bring It up at my next dealership visit, but now I think I will. I dread them replacing the rear window, if that is what it takes, because of the fear they won't get it right or something else will get broke in the process. That aside, I don't want to deal with leaks.

I have 2 cracks in mine and it is leaking water in as we speak since it is raining. I have a towel laid across the rear of the backseat. I am sure the water mixes really well with the e-torque battery back there.

:ROFLMAO: (i am sorry for laughing, but the way you delivered that sentence was hysterical : )

and as you can see from my signature, we have TWO 2019's, so i guess we can look forward to possibly FOUR cracks... No e-torgue battery pack tho, it'll just have to drip on the floorboard, where i assume it will mix not as well but just enuf to equally horrify me...Whiskey_tango said it best.... "Good times"....

Mine was finally fixed, and they had to replace the entire rear window. I haven't had an issue with any leaks. The dealer was nice enough to say they will pay for it to be tinted again as I had that done. I am still waiting on that though.

Truck also had to go back in as when they replaced the rear window they somehow broke the plastic surround of the middle back seat. They said the part was in on Wednesday dropped it off Thursday after work and at 2PM Friday was told they actually don't have the part and need to keep the truck until Tuesday. As I was driving it to the dealer the radio audio started a problem of on and off of the audio only. I checked it with FM, XM and even my Bluetooth from my phone and the sound just would go on and off for about 5 seconds each. They say they fixed that already.

If anyone knows of a good dealer in the Central Florida area that wont straight up lie to you, I would like to know. Have been lied to enough by this dealer.

The problem is do you have a guarantee that the new piece will not become a crack again ?
The whole back glass has to be replaced . And your truck must be at the dealer three or four days.

Every new piece will have the same crack ?

So, I am raise my hand for this problem too... See the pictures, I have THREE cracks and a stained headliner for added frustration! Yesterday, we were hit with severe thunderstorms in my area, and I had my godchildren in the backseat coming through the storms. They started telling me they were getting splashed! WTH? Once we got home, and I was getting them out, I clearly saw a FLOW of water running down the INSIDE of the frame and felt dampened seat tops and headliner edge. Lovely.
