Rear window leak

I had mine replaced 2 weeks ago the 3rd party vendor that replaced it said it will crack again, if it does he said I can order a solid window from him I will go that route and hope a class action law suite will eventually make me whole. It’s shameful they keep selling these trucks knowing the have this problem. Other than the leak I’ve really had no other issues it’s a 2020 I’ve had it for 3 years.
Someone on here talked about a class action lawsuit happening ,havnt heard anymore about it ,that was a few
Months ago.

This person on another thread for this in the mail.

Looks like they are only covering the light, not from the cracked window.
Also just says they are covering the CHMSL, which is the light itself, not a damaged headliner.
At least in the right direction, or a cop out to tell the government "look I am being nice don't get involved"

Funny how in the US nothing has been done at despite getting sued.

Also odd it doesn't include 2022.

i went with the solid rear glass about a year ago. best thing i could have done.

Someone from Canada posted today, that the third brake light leak warranty was extended. Rear window may come soon.

Add my name to the list. My new to me 2019 as cracks and is leaking on the driver side. Going to seal it up tonight to hopefully stop any more intrusion.

Add me to that list. 2020 Laramie CC with 41,000mi. Already replaced the 3rd brake light with the update P/N and it still leaks. I do have the infamous cracked plastic frame also.

Probably. Everyone else does.

Took my 2021 with 18,000 miles to the dealer for rear carpet being damp after it rains. They had a leak specialist come and check it out the following week. Leak specialist said rear window leaking and frame has a crack. Dealer scheduled third party to put new rear window in. I went to pick it up yesterday and the carpet was soaked. I asked why is this soaked back here. The service writer said we’ll take it through the wash and see if it’s leaking.
Sure enough they come back and said it still leaks, it leaks worse than before new window.
Also window looks to be aftermarket not Mopar.
This is getting ridiculous the amount of people having this same problem.

That looks like a ford window

Lucky!!!

That looks like the Ford window, which is pretty much the only one that doesn't have a major leak issue. Both GM and RAM use the same provider for our current garbage rear windows, Ford however uses another vendor with that design and they don't seem to have the same issues and RAMs and Silverados.

As for the leaking, likely a bad installation job rather than the window itself.

I hope that's not a new design. Looks like crap. I want a full size slider, not a port hole. I would rather have fixed glass than that.

I had one in my F150, hardly seems any different than my RAM one when fully opened, maybe slightly smaller, neither feel all that airy anyways. But I agree, if I had the option, I would gone a solid window and not deal with any possible issues down the line.

Can anyone confirm that there is a new window design, even if aftermarket?

Might be good to post the part number l, company, etc if this one doesn’t have the crack problem.

Kinda curious to see what happens with @5thgenalamode window. Maybe it’s the CHMSL or shark fine.

For the leaks, what's the part number for the new gasket around the brake light? (<- I've searched... I'm going to get some hail damage repaired, and I -know- they'll pull the brake light out to fix the roof and I want to install a fresh seal.)

Thanks.

I pick up the truck tomorrow. I’ll see what kind of markings or part numbers are on the window. They called today and said the glass company reinstalled it and made sure it doesn’t leak this time, but they wanted to keep it overnight to make sure all the water from the other day is all cleaned up and everything is dry.

I looked everywhere for an aftermarket Ford-type rear window for the Ram 1500 with no luck. Hopefully that's the new Mopar rear window and we get a part # from @5thgenalamode.

Any dealer should be able to help. The parts lists available to us on line suck.
