Rear Fog Lamps

These turn on when you press the fog button 2 times. When rear fog is activated, the button acts like this.
1st press, front fog
2nd press, front and rear fog
3rd press, front fog
4th press, all fogs off

These wouldn't be considered backup lights unless you turn them on while backing up, which is the main reason I started this project. I work off-road at cell towers and usually can't see much in the reverse cam at night, but I didn't want something that turns on every time I reverse, and I can't stand cheesy non-factory switches in my vehicles, so I used the built-in rear fog functionality. It works great for lighting up my towers, tools, trailers, boat, etc.

Was the rear fog icon present in your cluster? If not, did you find a way to add it?

Hi everyone, has anyone completed this mod? What were your findings? Quick question—were you able to get the cluster to display the rear fog light pictogram? I tried manually triggering mine with AlfaOBD, but no luck. Also, regarding the OE switch with its four different modes, what steps are needed to activate it?

I've almost completed it. I found out, from Jimmy's reply and using the '10 second test' in Alfa that the rear fog icon is not present in my cluster. Seems it's only present in export clusters. The green, front icon does display in any of the 3 ON states. I've started investigating adding another LED in the cluster; but don't know yet if this is possible.

Wow! I finally have rear fog lights. They're really bright. They overwhelm the camera when you're directly behind the truck.

I did. I messed up a little on the first one. I though the lamp should protrude through so I kept enlarging the hole. Figured out that the posts on the lamp position it to be flush with the plastic.
Did a better job on the second one. They don't look bad; but I'm going to apply some RTV in the gaps.

Last weekend I got my rear fogs working without buying anything from Mopar.

I have a 2019 Rebel, which already had 1 rear fog wire running to the rear bumper but not in the bumper harness. It's a White/Orange wire, with nothing on the other side of the connector.

You need alfaobd to activate rear fogs.
Also need a relay since most LED pods consume more current than the Mopar rear fogs.

I'd recommend adding a fuse, and some kind of indicator. My factory gauges don't have a rear fog indicator, but has a useless vta light, so I used that. If you already have the rear fog indicator or don't want one, you won't need to do anything under your dash.

Stock fog light switch will work. The only difference between stock and the "rear fog" version is the symbol painted on the button.

Supplies needed
-Alfaobd & OBD2Link MX+
-Standard Bosch relay preferably diode type
-Fuse holder with fuse
-soldering iron and heat shrink with hot melt (preferred), or just use crimp connectors with hot melt. They'll last until after the vehicle dies
-wire. Preferably red and black 14awg is probably fine unless your lights are stupid bright
-stripper/crimper/cutter, basic tools
-split wire loom, loom tape, zip ties
-EP35 electronic flasher if you want the indicator light to blink

Is this orange-white cable that goes into the connector the one responsible for powering the planned fog light? On the other side of the connector, no wire comes out, so I just want to confirm.
If I go with a simplified setup and install a basic fog light myself with the following parameters: 12V / 0.2A / 2.5W (or 24V / 0.1A / 2.5W, depending on the system), where would you recommend connecting the ground (GND)? Can I simply attach it to the car’s chassis, or is there a specific grounding point nearby that would be better to use?

I did swap out the headlight switch for the RoW switch. I have not coded the truck yet, because I'm waiting for an android tablet to arrive (had to buy one, haha. No windows or droid in the house). I'll report back as soon as I've coded via AlfaOBD.

Also - I meant to add - the RoW headlight switch operates exactly as the USA switch, no changes other than the silkscreening.

There is no need to change instrument cluster, amber fog lights sign is displayed on TFT screen in the left top corner.
As I understand it's required to change market in alfaOBD. Will try to do that in near future and will post update.

Wiring harness I purchased (1x Wiring Fascia Rear 68490773AC) included connectors for backup sensors, fog lights, lic plate lamps, trailer elec connection. Did not include the TPMS for trailer, which is a module embedded in to the bumper. I do get a warning message "Trailer TPMS needs service" or something like that, but it goes away quickly. I may try to code that out if I can figure out how.

My truck originally had the TTPMS module. So I "robbed" those wires from my original bumper harness and grafted them into the new bumper harness (with rear fog, backup sensors, etc.), Now my I don't get the TTPMS error.

Rear fog lamp symbol​

So I just ordered a Limited last week, and one of the mods I'm interested in is rear fog lamps. For those who don't know what rear fog lamps are, the Wikipedia page on automotive lighting has a good summary. In short, they shine at the same brightness as brake lamps, and are intended for use in low-visibility conditions to make your vehicle easier to see from the rear. I do a lot of highway driving for work, and I believe rear fog lamps improve safety during severe rain storms and heavy fog conditions.

I've done a bit of research, and it seems the engineers designed rear fogs into this vehicle (confirmed). I believe the symbol is included in the instrument cluster, and I've seen references to a "Rear Fog" setting in both AlfaOBD and TazerDT settings lists. I was able to find part numbers for the items required to do this mod, with the exception of the fog lamps themselves. These parts are listed in the following table. Since I do not have my truck yet, I have the following questions if anyone is able to help:

1. Does the rear wiring harness included on the Limited (or any other trim) have the connectors for the factory fog lamps?
2. Does anyone have information on the part number for the rear fog lamps, or if they will ever be manufactured?

So is anyone else interested in this mod? I'm curious to hear other's thoughts regarding rear fogs. I wrote this post partially to help me keep track of the part numbers, and I will try to keep it updated when new info comes in.
