Ram Trucks Reduces The Complexity Of Its 2022 Ram 1500 Lineup!

Unless I’m reading it wrong, you’ll still be able to get ACC on the Longhorn. ASG will still be offered on that trim.
I've contacted three dealers and all have said that both Tech and ASG are not orderable on the Longhorn.

If you liked it strictly for appearance, you likely would have spent the extra to get 4WD if that was the only way to get one.
Maybe, maybe not. Using that logic, I really love the appearance of the TRX. But I didn't spend the extra for one when I was last buying LOL. Plenty of people don't want 4wd and won't pay extra for it. Why limit people's choices any more than they already are?

That’s too bad.

It makes sense they'd drop the tech group, as it’s features are now included in Level 1 (according to the article). In 2021, adding the Technology Group required adding both Level 1 and Advanced Safety groups. So, the 2022 Longhorn Level 1 package has been upgraded and there's no need for a Tech Group. No worries there.

But dropping the Advanced Safety Group makes no sense, because, on the 2021 Longhorn anyway, its features were not part of Level 1 (unlike the Limited, where Level 1 included all ASG features, so ASG was something you'd select if you wanted, for instance, adaptive cruise control but didn't wan't want, or want to pay for, the other two Level 1 features).

So unless Ram is making Longhorn Level 1 like Limited Level 1 (meaning it includes ASG + tech features), that means there would be no way to get adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, park assist, surround view camera, and pedestrian emergency breaking.

I feel this surely has to be a mistake. Many of those features would be a deal breaker for someone buying a high end trim like Longhorn. But, we are in strange times with this shortages. Still, my bet is ACC, surround view, etc will be available on the 2022 Longhorn in some package. I'm so confident in that prediction, I'm willing to put a Washington on the line (I'm talking about a U.S. quarter, not a dollar bill; you think I'm made of money?!?)

Well lucky for me I traded up a bit this spring from my 2015 Big Horn to my current 2019 Larime.
I had been looking for several months and the dealers didn't want to deal on the new ones as far as ordering one and I had some fairly specific requirements.
I wanted the power seat with adjustable lumbar support on both sides in the front seat, I wanted the bench seat as I don't like the huge center counsel it bothers my knee on long trips, I detest black interiors I wanted the light colored interior, also the so called long box, I like the air suspension.
What it doesn't have that I would have liked would be the adaptive cruise and power and heated tow mirriors.
The auto braking while backing up from the sensors irritate me every time they have activated so far, dips in the ground and tall grass, never once for a pedestrian.
But seeing as how unless something happens to this truck it will be 2026 or so before I gett seriouly looking for another one I have to wait and see what stupidity they have crammed them with then.

Android auto will be full integrated and Google will greet you when you start up the truck and read off the list of crap you have to get done today.

I was hopeing for a limited without air suspension.
Also make the power side steps optional. I prefer the added protection of a fixed step and less complexity for this basic feature. Minus 10 and a couiple feet of snow, how good will those power steps work?

As long as it has a mute button or I can turn it off,
heck I don't use the "cloud" now as it is and my stuff doesn't "sync" it may want to and keep trying to and I keep refusing.

Or give you a "delete" option, like they do for the bed liner (that no one deletes lol). That being said, you could turn them off and add ones of your own if you really wanted to.

Well, Mark Dodge just confirmed that ASG is not orderable for the Longhorn and it's features have not been moved to another package, which means, as far as I can tell, that you have to order either a Big Horn or a Limited to get the ASG features. 🙄

I'll be magnanimous and let you keep your quarter!

I sure hope no ASG on Longhorn is a temporary restriction

That’ll be the technicality which lets me keep my quarter.

I’m glad I ordered my 2021 Longhorn. I was seriously considering waiting until 2022 to get UConnect 5, but 2022 is shaping up to be messy.

I haven't read about this being an big issue in the 2 years I've been on this forum. These trucks have been in service for 3 winters now. I'm confident that people would have posted about having problems with them in winter if it was a common problem. I'm not saying no one has had any issues with this, just that it doesn't seem to be a common issue.

Mine on my last Limited worked really well and I like the power steps because they come out far enough and go down far enough when deployed to actually be useful but not be in the way. There is a setting in UConnect to disable them if you get really crappy winter weather where it's going to be an issue with ice.

It bugs me no end that you can buy a $25k Honda/Toyota/etc with Adaptive cruise included but the big three are milking it for mega bucks. Correction Big 2. GM doesn't know how to offer it on the Silverado. Ford charges $750 on the F150....C'mon Ram. Get with the program.

really happy that i bought my truck when I did given these changes...still salty that my blind spot monitoring got axed. but at least i got the MFG..crazy that its being removed from lower trims

and surround view cameras. F150 can add it to any trim for $765, Ram has to go up to Laramie Level 2...

Hi all!

I ordered a 2022 truck at the tail end of May, shortly after the orders were switched to the 2022 model. I put in for a 1500 Bighorn with Level 2 equipment and a few other options. One of the options was the Mountain Brown interior. Does anyone think there is a possibility of still getting the brown interior since the truck was ordered so early on? Or is there no chance now that they've removed it from the bighorn line?

Thanks!

It sounds like you won't be able to get that color since it's been removed from the Big Horn. Here's a quote from the article...

"According to the dealers we have talked to, RAM sent out letters stating that already placed orders for the 2022 model year trucks, will be modified to reflect the revised plan."

Wonder how long we will have to wait to find out the color options for the Back Country Edition, one of my coworkers wants to order one.
The dealer cant give him much information.
If you have not found it yet, you can build on the NADA site. Another forum member told me about it. About 5 or 6 colors to pick from. Matched what I went in to order.
Good luck!
