After two years of ownership, we have loved our time with our 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport. We opted for the Laramie Sport as it provided the best street appeal and performance at the time of the fifth-generation Ram half-ton’s launch.

While the center mounted shifter (like the TRX) looks much better that the rotary dial, from a functionality perspective, I think I prefer the rotary. Freeing up the space in the center console makes it so much more flexible and usable.

The console shifter is so bad ***! The rotary dial is convenient, but the console shifter just “feels” better to me lol and if you could actually bump it up and down in manual mode then mannnn I want it! I miss manual mode SO much on my truck.

So it's not available for the Limited? I prefer a center console shifter

I hope this is just part if the “oh **** Ford is getting all the press”… what can we do to get attention.

Because if this is their best shot for 2022, I’m disappointed.

I’m still hoping for new power plants like a turbo gas v6.

It’s cool to have options but does nothing for me besides the shifter being in the console. Either way I’ve gotten use to the rotary dial since my 4th gen and I appreciate all the extra space in the center console I get because of it.

I'd rather have the console shifter in my Ram as well. We bought a brand new Charger and I like driving that just as much as the truck but do prefer the console shifter.

I'll take the rotary with paddle shifters option, please and thanks

Agree.

The article saying “The console-mounted shifter means that the G/T Package also adds paddle shifters“ doesn’t make sense. One doesn’t require the other.

Evidenced by Durango having the dial shifter and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters from 2014-18

Missed the deadline for ordering a 2021 a couple weeks ago, so GT and the Back Country announcement from a few days ago are very interesting.

Can't wait to see pricing for those packages.

I'd buy this trim JUST for the console shifter. The rotary dial is the most unintuitive and dangerous thing they've ever put into a pickup truck. You have to train yourself to physically look at the knob every time you turn it, whereas a real shifter that has detents and positions can be learned by your brain.

I wonder what will be in the place whete the rotary shifter was?🤔

Any hope of seeing an order guide like I can see on the Jeep forums?

I never minded the rotary shifter, but I do miss the console shifter my '12 had. So much more fun to shift with even if it was just a gear limiter. I'd take the paddle shifters any day.
