Rain Sensing Wipers (Not equipped but have the part)

Does anyone have part number for the rubber piece that stops the plastic cover from rattling? Looks like my aftermarket remote starter installer didn’t put it back on.

Good evening everyone. I'm excited at the opportunity to try this out. However, will this process apply to 2025 Rams? I recently read in other threads the wiring structure in the doors for the 19-24 models are different when adding passive entry. Is this wiring structure different as well for adding rain sensing wipers?

Standing by for your revered input.

Yes, it's different. And no, you can't add it for now (if ever).

I saw this asked earlier but with no response and I can’t seem to find any answers, but does anyone know how to wire it in if your truck doesn’t have the wires?

My level one big horn doesn’t have auto climate so it doesn’t have the wires but it’s only like 3 or 4 wires from what I can tell so I imagine like the guys with the dasm a few wires can be added to get it functioning. I’m pretty nifty at the actual wiring if someone can help me figure out where to run the wires too I’d love to make a guide for others in my position!

Happy to report that Rain Sensing wipers and auto climate controls work as expected :)

Modded the shroud to blank out the heated seats and wheel which I don't really need here in south texas. Should have been an option from the factory to just have auto AC in a basic form like this.

Added the following to my Level 1 Bighorn:

Header Wiring Part #68488874aa
Rain Sensor Part #68298334aa

Changed the two settings in AlfaOBD as described earlier in the thread.

I now have rain sensing wipers.

Notes:
1. Take your time. Running the new harness is a little challenging. Removing the old harness was tough as was reassembling everything. Get a friend to hold up the sun visors when reinstalling. Leave two hours for this.

2. My new sensor included the gel pad. Although I had to run the new harness, and I do not have auto climate control, I feel that not having to clean out the old sensor was easier.

3. The passenger side panel below the pillar comes out easily. Just pull on it.

4. I spoke to a technician at Safelite auto glass. They install these sensors often. Keep that in mind. This is a mod you can do. The trim by the mirror is designed to come off and with a little wiggling it does come off somewhat easily. Anyway, this is a doable project.
I have a 2022 big horn and did not come with Header Wiring Part #68488874aa. Since it’s just a regular flip rear view mirror.

Where would I connect the other side of the connector ?

Any helps is greatly appreciated

That looks like it plugs in to the body control module. Lower left behind the kick panel.

"Ex ex ed ed"

sorry looks like i replied without know i did lol
i check the body control moduel and there is no extra slot to insert that connector.
having that said it will not reach all the way down there either.

according to the diagram it looks like it runs from the mirror to the front passeger side.

**** pass-side dash. pull panel, I believe the connector is there.. it travels from sensor, along roof towards pass side, down A-pillar to connector -- I maybe wrong but from your pic it looks the 8 pin plug that lives in that location...

Yes I have been on the parts site and noticed the various build package options are listed for harnesses but alot of text there in the description!

What I did today was get on the dealer inventory site and find a new 2022 1500 with all the options I currently have (and wanted to add), and then called the parts desk at the dealer to see if any of the harnesses on my short list are assigned the VIN. The descriptions are confusing a little on the website but I found the first paragraph in the description ending with a period before a new line is accurate to the packages, and then all the gobblygook underneath is to be ignored (80% positive on this statement).

I verified the harness for the Limited with the parts desk and then had him double check the other two to see if they are matched the Limited, finding out that they were not. I then cross referenced my VIN verifying the harness part number to which I observed when pulling the right pillar/panel. Seems like each harness matches a set of options which makes sense, cheaper harness = less options, expensive harness = more options. I did some ebay scraping for actual images of the harnesss to compare the connector counts and shapes to see if the various harneses would match, and they all look like the same connectors, just more or less quantity depending on the options it supports.

Here is what I found on the parts site, four header harnesses, maybe someone can check my work here, Ive been juggling a day job today :)

Cheapest, just the mirror (25 bucks)
68488876AA - [DIGITAL REARVIEW MIRROR] OR [GNK].

Facebook post above, apparently no lane assist as per the photo (28 bucks)
68488874AA - [DIGITAL REARVIEW MIRROR] OR [GNK], [Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers] AND/OR [Air Cond ATC w/Dual Zone Control].

My Bighorn with no existing Rain/Humidity sensor, but already has bracket (36 bucks)
68474872AB - [DIGITAL REARVIEW MIRROR] OR [GNK], [LANE KEEP ASSIST] AND/OR [ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL W/STOP and GO] AND/OR [Full Speed Fwd Collision Warn Plus].

Limited from the dealer Inventory website (49 bucks)
68474873AA - [DIGITAL REARVIEW MIRROR] OR [GNK], [LANE KEEP ASSIST] AND/OR [ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL W/STOP and GO] AND/OR [Full Speed Fwd Collision Warn Plus], [Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers], [Air Cond ATC w/Dual Zone Control

So, I guess adding the sensor to complete my ATC mod, and/or enable Rain sensitive wipers to my specific package would mean I need to add the next level up harness which is 68474873AA, supporting the most options.

I dropped the front headliner via a youtube guide to see the feasability on replacing the harness, took me less than 30 min. Harness even just plugs into a slot in the side panel near the passenger vent. So seems pretty straight forward to swap the harness, add the sensor, and program AlfaOBD. Easy except I have a light tan headliner so need to have spotless hands for this one, and clean tools.

Hence I ordered the new harness and sensor with a gel pack today, and will see what happens I guess.
Omg how the heck did I miss you laying this out in plain text smh you are a god send!

My truck has the lowest harness as it’s a level 1 big horn, but i wonder if i get the harness with the acc dasm connectors along with the humidity sensor/rain sensor connector if it will let me add the dasm in future without having to wire it separately like in the acc guide.

I’m gonna order it and report back

go it. i will definitly try to remove B pillar and look for the connector there.
ill post back with what i find in there.

i also have the level 1 big horn.
were you able to add the digital rear view mirror to your truck?

Im not adding the digital Rear view mirror, so idk I’m fine with my auto dimmer. I ordered the larmie harness that has the connectors for the dsam module that enables active cruise lane keep and forward collision warning, along with the connectors for the humidor/rain sense module.

I’m still waiting on the harness to ship so
I’ll let you know if they work out!

Follow the old harness that you will remove, this makes the job easier. See also my notes in my original post and I think I had (or someone else had) a link to a guy who did the install on Facebook. He had some pictures. I am sorry I do not have pictures. It was fairly straightforward. Everything installed toward the passenger side. You will remove the A-pillar, the grab handle, sun visors (I removed both so the headliner would fall further), rear view mirror, and the trim in the middle. Take your time.

If you don’t have a plastic harness grommet/trim tool (or what ever they are called), get one from Walmart or harbor freight or where ever. It’s a cheap tool and will make the job a ton faster and easier.

Hey wait!

Please make sure you have about a 1.25in circle in the middle of your windshield (in what should be a central, heavily tinted dark area on the windshield). There is a small plastic harness glued to the windshield and this is where the sensor installs.

I have a Level 1 Bighorn with an existing auto-dimming rear view mirror (not flip up), the connection point for the sensor, and the correct trim. My truck had an existing harness, which was replaced in the mod.

You may not be able to do this mod without also replacing the windshield and getting the right rear view mirror trim. I guess potentially you could leave the wires and sensor exposed (not sure I’d try that). Also, since there is no power to the flip up mirror, you will not have an existing harness to follow to guide you to where the new harness should be connected. This would make the job a little more difficult - just line up the plastic press in connectors. In the kick panel, only two places the where the connectors are empty and will fit.

Post a picture of your rear view mirror and the area behind it toward the windshield. I can confirm. I would post a picture of mine for comparison but I am traveling and away from my truck. I can send a picture next week if you can wait. Also, there are other pics earlier in this thread including from me that also show the circle and trim you should have (copied below).
