He really liked that DRW 1 ton, it had some special leather aftermarket package, 4.10's and the Allison. Was a real towing beast but couldn't pass a gas station.

Nice! Those were great trucks for their time. The 3/4 Burbans with the 8.1’s were nice too. They should have done the duramax Burban back then.

I like your post, last week I bought a new 2020 Jayco 145RB to travel across North America next year after my wife and I retire. It’s only 14 1/2 foot long and under 2500 lbs. It has everything we need, we will install a good quality mattress instead of the thin sponges on the kitchen table, the bed will be permanent so we will use the small sofa and a portable table if we eat inside. I also bought a dual fuel 3200 watt Firman inverter generator from Costco, I will test it on propane tomorrow.
The last time my wife, daughter, son and myself drove across Canada, 9500km it was in a Dodge Caravan, no trailer, we tented at KOA campgrounds and a few motels.
We are getting excited for our next trip, with my Rebel diesel and the small trailer with no kids.
Lodging is one of the most expensive part of traveling, then food, fuel and entertainment. We did the Disney resorts 3 times with the kids, so our entertainment will not be as expensive, we want to take our time and enjoy the scenery.

Excellent idea, great rig combo, that should be fun!

Great Trailer. Hope your trip is awesome. so many great places to see. will be dragging ours out to the west cost next year and starting in San Diego, on the 1 then to the 101 all the way to Seattle. This year will be some shorter trips to Utah and Arizona and Colorado. I would have liked a smaller trailer but other half wanted bigger so I had to give a little, plus my Dog weighs in at 100 lbs, and he needs some room. Safe travels

Maybe by then CalDot will have fixed Rt 1 or you'll have a quick trip “down” to the coastline...

Nice dog, I miss our chocolate lab.
We do have an older 29 foot prowler that we keep at my in-laws cottage, I’ve towed it with my 2011 Ram in the past, but for short trips. My Rebel would pull it with less effort, 8 speed transmission and 480 lb/ft torque, that trailer is 7800lbs so for me it would not be a pleasant ride, definitely not to go across Canada or to visit all the places we want to explore in the States, Grand Canyon, Nashville, Florida.....getting more and more excited just writing about it.
Our trips this summer will be shorter, basically staying in Ontario, hopefully we get this COVID-19 under control, we had to cut our Florida trip shorter last March.
Everybody stay safe!
