Price negotiated from MSRP

Hey everyone, I just ordered my third ram and it's my first time ever doing a factory order. Any good tips and tricks for negotiation would be great. I'm hoping by August there will be go incentives on 2020s.I had to give a 5% non refundable deposit which makes me feel like they already have me by the you know what.

You ordered but haven’t agreed on price yet?? And you put down 5% of MSRP?? Typical deposit for ordering is $500-$1000. Like everything that’s negotiable. I put down $300 for my 2014 1500 Longhorn order and dealer normally asked for $500. If you put down 5% of MSRP then yeah they have you as that would be almost $3K you’d lose if you walk.

Also you should not be paying extra for the Anti-Spin Rear Differential.... it is included with the Night Edition package. I went back and forth with my dealer, and they agreed with me. But the computer system kept trying to add it along with charging for the Deluxe bucket seats even though that is included in the same package, which at least yours shows $0.

2020 RAM Rebel crew.
MSRP 56 and change
Out the door 49 and change.
rebates/negotiation

What do you think? 2019 2500 Big Horn - Sport, Level 2, Bed Group, Towing Group, sunroof.
MSRP 59,500
Dealer selling for 51,900
There's an additional 3,000 in incentives (2,000 necka cash back, 500 conquest, 500 first responder)
Total - 48,900
I also have a trade in I'm getting some back for, then taxes, tags, etc.
Obviously salesman is pushing, rebates (what there are) end tomorrow. I'm thinking of rolling the dice, not sure that they can get much worse in July.

Ok....finally pulled the triggered today on a new Ram...

I had a better deal worked out just before Covid hit, wished I had bought then....

2020 Ram Laramie Crew 4x4
Maximum Steel Metallic
5.7 non-etorque
3.21
Level 1
14” U Connect
Buckets
Bed Package w/ spray-in Liner
Ram boxes
anti-slip

MSRP $57,680
Dealer Discount 7,580
Rebates $4500
No Doc fee
$45,600 plus taxes
That is a 21% discount from msrp

Could have got another $500 Chrysler Financial Rebate but the rate was so high that it was much cheaper and take the 2.69% for 5 years from a local credit union....

which dealer did you work with?

If this is Cummins then its great deal otherwise not so good.

I think that’s a pretty good deal.
$7600 dealer discount plus rebates is getting you to 18% off MSRP without the trade. Be really good to be at like 20% off MSRP and not get boned on trade value. So I think your at a pretty good starting point. Another 2% is $1200

edit: just saw it’s a 2019. I’d want to see it more discounted. 25-30% off.

In reading the last month worth of posts and with tomorrow being the last day of the month, is it realistic to get 30% off 2019 Laramie's? Seems like most 2020's are getting between 17-21% off?

Hard to say. That’s what I was trying for in New England and was not successful. It’s a supply/demand game and I guess the dealers in my area are not in that difficult of a position yet for heavier discounts. Can’t speak for where you are, but I suspect that big of a discount will require really good rebates from FCA. Most Good dealer discounts seem to be 11-13% off MSRP, then deduct rebates. I ended up ordering a 2020 with all the items I wanted and waiting. If the rebates improve while I wait I could do better than the 18% off I currently have.

So far dealers are advertising 0% for 72 months and no payment for 90 days as their July 4th sale.
Usually they advertise discounts like up to $10,000 or $15,000 off but not seeing any of that.
Instead its only 0% interest.

They're not even "offering" anything as 0/72 and 90 days has been around. It's not a "sale". July rebates will be out tomorrow but since production of the 2021s doesn't start until 31 August this year, I suspect that rebates will still be terrible in July as well. Only the high volume dealers are really seeing inventory right now as most of the dealers' inventory is still low.

Anyone know when the order guide for the 2021 models will be out?

These dates were posted on another forum for the 2020 Final Order Date and the 2021 Order/Production Start-Up Dates. I’m not sure if they’re accurate. Everything I’ve seen has said August is the end of the 2020 Ordering, but given the current build times and the need to replenish inventory, I could see these dates holding true.

2020 final order date: 10/08/2020
2021 order bank opens: 11/06/2020
2021 build start up date: 12/21/2020

Per the article on this site, the SHAP plant that’s builds our RAM 1500’s will start Building the 2021 MY RAM on Monday August 31, 2020. So if that is accurate, the order window will close soon.

Is there a definitive answer to whether current month rebates and/or special 0% 72mos can be "protected" or locked in on a custom order?

Yes You can lock incentives at time of order or delivery. Contact Tcanderson20 on here cause he confirmed it with RAM on his. You could also call RAM also to confirm.
