Price negotiated from MSRP

Mine was MSRP $53,500 & I got it for $38,500 but they made me get a freakin $4k protection package. Really stupid but honestly even at $42,500 it was the best deal I’d ever seen on a truck like mine with all the features (and the 6’4 bed).

What type of protection package? You’re able to cancel some of those for a refund after the purchase.
 
It varies by sales staff maybe. There’s been some other reports In the last couple months such as you’ve seen/mentioned but if it is now in the past then thats great.
I had it happen to me but caught it (mostly the haziness about the factory $1695 delivery fee added onto the bottom) before a 12 hour, 1 way drive there.
If I hadn’t been peed-off already at the salesperson due to that failure to mention it on the price, I might have let the sales manager try to save the deal. The sour taste left plus the 24 hours of driving with a less than happy spouse (the truck was for her and she detests car buying) did it for me.
Maybe my experience was a “one-off” but since it happened, I said “games”.
Even then their price was still a couple K below what I paid for locally.

Ha ha, don’t go by # of posts, probably 1000 of them have been letting new owners know about the “Bonus Drive” $250 rebate check offer, which I’ve since quit doing.
Yes I’ve heard of a few things positive and not so, and even have mentioned they are a low price volume dealer on the east coast to some folks, so it's been both ways.
Edited 5-23-2020: I could care less if someone buys from their dealer down the street or travels 3000 miles, it’s their money. Just be an informed buyer and don’t simply look at advertised prices from any dealer.
Here’s the fine print on the bottom describing Kz’s approach to pricing, just so you are aware before you go there (note the bolding you see is mine):
“We make every effort to provide accurate information, but please verify options and price before purchasing. All vehicles are subject to prior sale. All prices are special internet prices only. All financing is subject to approved credit. All prices exclude freight. All prices exclude tax, tags, and processing fee of $799. WOW prices include all applicable rebates and incentives. Additional rebates and incentives, such as Military or College Graduate programs, may apply to those who qualify. WOW pricing may not be compatible with special factory financing. WOW prices are valid based on manufacturer incentive program time periods, which vary by make. See dealer for details.”

**Please note that many/all dealers have “fine print” that you have to watch out for. The place I bought from had a $699 dealer fee and I was in a corner cause’ my wife wanted THAT truck, so I was kinda stuck. After 33 years of marriage, walking out over $699 wasn’t an option....

For in stock (Wow*) vehicles yes, freight is not included some MD law that it needs to be a separate line item...for orders through Craig freight is already included. He seems like a straight shooter to me. Answers all my questions (and I have a lot). (See below for his response about freight.) Hope that helps people considering ordering through him.

At the same time, I’ve learn A LOT from this forum, but it still can’t replace common sense. As educated buyers, we should always look at all paperwork carefully before signing with such a huge payment.


2) For the Group Buy the destination fee is already included. So what I quoted you is what you would pay when the Ram comes in. Nothing more. I do not add any hidden fees. Now if you are looking at something in stock and at the WOW price, then yes you are correct. The difference between the Group Buy and WOW price is that the WOW is always changing, all the paperwork has to be done before months end and does not include destination, so that would have to be added back in. Compared to the Group Buy where it would be invoice, less the % off, plus tax, tags and 799 processing as the destination is already included. So again, for the Group Buy program, it is whatever the invoice is, less 8%, less any rebates at time of delivery, plus tax, tags and processing.

51500 MSRP down to 37,100..............descent deal for a 2020.

Dealer used 2,000 of "fca coupons" to sweeten it.

Hopefully your experience goes better with Craig than mine did.
Was going to purchase a truck through him, he kept insisting FCA does not offer buyer protection for 84 month 0 percent and that I would have to take whatever offer is at the time of pick-up.
This is blatantly untrue.
I called FCA and confirmed.
Then he said I misunderstood, the dealership just didn't want to give it to me.
Mind you the buyer protection is from FCA, nothing to do with dealership.
He came back saying they'd do the buyer protection, but now will only give 5% off invoice, instead of the 8%.

Not very straight shooting, just dodgy and shady.
I think I remember your post about that. Kinda’ sketchy yes.

Thanks for the clarification. Like you said, a buyer has to use common sense and check all the paperwork. If their WOW prices continually vary then that’s important to check.

If Kz had something on their website right up front about the delivery fee and it being Md law to separate it out under certain circumstances, that would be much more forthcoming. Hopefully the guy I had the displeasure to deal with has left and all is well for potential buyers now, bearing in mind a couple posts before (AK103) on the 5% vs 8% issue.

Dealers change staff, their sales managers, general managers and even sometimes owners (my most local RAM dealer, McNichols, recently sold after 27 years to the Toyota (Cox) dealer group) so the policies that were in effect from one year or even one month to another can change.

Honestly I’m not sure what it’s called but basically if I get door dings, crack my windshield, get scratches on the paint, or stain or rip the upholstery they’ll fix or replace any of it. And it has like a security alarm thing too I think. But honestly the body shop guy at the dealership said he’s never done any warranty work on a truck with that protection package. He said people come in & have that package and he tells them the process to file a claim and then he never sees the customers again so he thinks it doesn’t do anything, the warranty is useless. The dealership sales manager literally would not let me buy the truck unless I got it though, even after negotiations and I was friends with the sales guy. So I went through with the deal, reluctantly, because like I said the truck was still a great deal.

Don’t sweat it. You ended up with a solid deal even with the addition. My dealer marked my truck around $18.5k off, but tacked on around $2500 of additions and fees. In the end, it was still the best discount I could find after figuring the fees into the price. The $2500 made them happy, and the $16k off MSRP exceeded my target at the time.

Enjoy that new truck. Check whether you qualify for the Bonus Drive rebate, and enjoy another $250 if so!
 
"Protection Packages" are such a rip-off, and pretty much you aren't hit with such add-ons until you get in the finance office. Sometimes you will see it on the sales quote in the beginning. First time I seen it on mine, I politely said "I do not pay for or want any protection packages or our deal is off". Sales guy said "OH, we won't make you pay for that stuff".
Guess they just try to sucker people into that stuff. INSTANTLY, $995 disappears (which was never a part of the truck anyway). "Permaplate" was his ripoff protection plan.

Just like finance manager hammers you for an extended warranty. this one was from ALLY, for like $3,100 (YEAH, THAT'S AT COST FOR YOU TODAY". Liar Liar. I pollitely stopped him in the first 5 words of his presentation.

Why would I pay $3100 for an extended warranty, when I could go directly to an online retailer, and save $2,000 instantly.

I immediately went to Zeigler plans, used the PROMO CODE of "PAYINFULL", and instantly got another $365 off, making my ESP about $1200 for basically the same warranty, which was a certified MOPAR extended warranty.

That just shows how much extra profit they make, and like the $799 doc fees, it’s all a rip-off. Yes we have the ultimate ability to walk away but it’s tiring to find the truck you want/like then at the end get jerked around. Part of the dealers business model is to wear you down, and it usually works.
 
DOC FEE's just keep going up here. Its a small town, and they used to be around like $189/$289.

Same dealers have jumped to $569/ and one jumped to $699.

Of course, many dealers are offering "THEIR" limited lifetime warranty, so where do you think the funding from that is coming from. DOC FEES pay the salesperson. DOC FEES pay for that "FREE" tank of gas you're getting, and DOC FEES
are to help make up for lost profit on the sale (if there ever was any loss).

That just shows how much extra profit they make, and like the $799 doc fees, it’s all a rip-off. Yes we have the ultimate ability to walk away but it’s tiring to find the truck you want/like then at the end get jerked around. Part of the dealers business model is to wear you down, and it usually works.

Yep sir, how true. Other than a few real sharp buyers, I’d say the dealers never really “lose“. Like Vegas...

I knew there could be a better dealer discount had. They didn't wanna show me the invoice. I mentioned I had a "supplier discount". VOILA, $2000 grand more. (which most dealers will give you a better price that the PP pricing on the invoice anyway). Finally, I knew it could be better, so I just come out and said "I think you're ********ting me, I think you'd better plan your day without me". I was silent the rest of the day. Next morning, the very last day of the month, we'll do $xx,xxx ONLY until noon. Another scare tactic. At that point, it was the price I wanted and knew it was a good one, and I was afraid at that point the truck might be gone.

SO, dealer was losing money, but pulled an extra $3,000 outta his ***. BLA BLA BLA.

I think he actually did eat the running boards, bedliner and window tint, but the excessive DOC FEE probably made up a little of that. Not sure if he ever cut into his HOLDBACK or not. He will make a couple of thousand on the trade.

My family NEVER buys a vehicle unless I come with them. The last sales manager locked me out when I went with my brother, however, I looked over the deal before he signed.NEWRAM.jpgNEWRAM.jpg

Ha, I need to take you along but, at my age hopefully this is the last new vehicle. An April 2019 with uhh, 8800 miles on it.

That's the key, you have to not be emotional and willing to walk away when its not the deal you feel it should be

Yeah man exactly. I definitely wasn’t happy about the protection package because I felt baited, but at the end of the day I knew I was getting my dream truck still for $11k off MSRP, I hadn’t seen a truck this close to every option I wanted EVER, and I figured having a little added assurance that if little things go wrong the protection package (might) be helpful. I also found (similar but not 100% identical) trucks in the area for around $42500, so at least with this one it’s essentially the same price and I get an added protection package. Overall I’m satisfied with the deal, but not necessarily “happy” Lol
