Hey everyone,
I haven’t heard anyone having any problems with the power folding mirrors but there always has to be the first truck.
Parked in a tight spot today so I decided to fold in the mirrors but the driver side mirror never decided to stop trying to fold in. You could hear gears grinding, the window being smacked and it eventually just gives up after a minute. Tried it a couple different times and it’s getting worse. I have an app with the dealer tomorrow.
This is now the 3rd trip to the dealer in 3 months for problems like these but I knew what I was getting into but was hoping Ram got this little stuff figured out.
Anyways figured I should start a thread on it knowing I won’t be the only one.

Yeah my side mirrors on my Laramie do exactly what you described above. My encounter with the dealer was that the drivers side mirror needs to be completely replaced. At the time, which was like 2 months ago they said the Laramie side mirrors are not out yet to be purchased from the parts department. I do have the blind spot monitor system in my mirrors. I haven't reached back out to the dealer because I have been busy traveling a lot. I can recommend to you is that if you turn your truck off completely then click the button to put your mirrors in it, it might work normal. It does for me any way.

Well I noted "purchased" above which in fact I wouldn't have to pay anything. Warranty covers it all. Just the fact that the part is not available from the parts department is what I was trying to get at.

Mine was fixed by replacing the mirror, there have been no issues since replacement. I have a theory that it was damaged in a car wash/ user error. If you go through a car wash with the mirror folded in, then the wash flips the mirror out. Push the mirror back in manually so the mirror and the gears are back in "sync". I think if you just push the button to fold one or the other back out while one was flipped out by the wash, it messes the gears up and causes this problem.

Hard to explain but I hope you get the idea.

I totally understood that. Do you think I could resolve this but doing that exact scenario again? I have not gone through any car washed tho. I'm a hand wash kinda guy.

I mean, if it's already "broken" you may as well try to get them to line back up if possible.

I just went out and put my mirror all the way out and hit the button and the mirror folded on the way in. It is now working?!?! but it is still making some strange clicking sounds when in the normal driving mode area. The issue is now that it is working just making strange noises I'm not sure if the dealer will replace...

It's probably still out of whack. Give it another shot or two to see if it may line back up. Dealer should replace it as it's still under warranty.

I tried multiple times, to the point they both stopped working (I think I hit a limiter because I did it more than 15 times)

How I got mine is a long story, but the part number for your mirror, Laramie w/blind spot is 6827 6507 AE -001 . They're everywhere.

I appreciate it. I figured I could get one by now just haven’t had the time. Will be going back to the dealer soon!

Oh man. I just did my first car wash and this exact thing happened. One mirror flipped open and I pushed the button twice to get them both reset. I sure hope the system is not that fragile. I can’t quite figure out why they both didn’t flip open.

Not the 1st I have heard of this. Other members have posted about this on this forum already.

Took the truck to the dealer this morning. The mirror is on national backorder (driver side). They said maybe a week but there were no promises. The good thing is I don't really care if my mirrors don't fold in for a couple week. More concerned about the drivetrain noises I have.

Were you ever able to get a resolution on this? I'm still having the issue of the mirror "humping" (as I like to call it now) on closure.

I had this same problem with both mirrors. Dealer replaced both, no more issues.

OK thanks. Once I find a new dealership (fighting with old one over damage to my truck when they had it in for the last issues) to work with, I will have them replace the drivers side one now (pass was already replaced). Drivers is getting worse and keeps going until you open the door. Press the button to close it with the door open and no issues.
