Poor performing heated mirrors???

The shop that I dealt with ceramic coated my entire vehicle including my glass and after that basically as soon as I hit defrost the mirrors were clear. That’s what worked for me, but I’m not trying to encourage anyone to spend that kind of money about an issue that should be handled via the dealership.
Are you talking about a film, or the same ceramic that goes on paint?

The application they applied was solely for glass and was a spray on/ wipe off deal.

can someone please answer this. i'm wondering the same thing.

No it does not light up.

my drivers side takes longer to clear up than the pass side as well, could it be because the drivers side has the dimming feature?

Thanks for answering that, I’m going to look into it.

Update from the dealership
I was told the drivers side mirror will defrost much slower than the passenger side mirror and that is a normal function (design flaw) of the mirror. After some back and forth they handed me a memo from Chrysler basically outline the issue and telling dealers not to replace mirrors. I don't see how this hasn't been resolved with a software flash or something. The passenger side works great and heats up quickly. Drivers side takes 20 minutes to heat up? Sorry but thats BS.

I've had this truck for about 6 months and I'm beginning to regret trading in my 2017 Ram. Between this and the ****ty AC the 2017 was a better built truck.

takes longer cause left has auto dimming function

Are people with the passenger auto dimming feature having this trouble?

I've noticed the drivers side with auto dimming clears quite a bit slower than the passenger side. I assumed its the auto dimming feature.

Orlando , Fl. With heavy dew covering the truck, the drivers side never clears. Passenger side is OK.

updated: while idling at a school today to pick up my granddaughter, I switched on the rear defroster. Sometime later it switched off and the drivers side mirror was warm to the touch. It was more than ten minutes but the mirror is heating up.

I thought limited trucks had both sides.
My Laramie has auto-dimming on both sides. My driver's side takes longer than the passenger side to defrost too.

maybe both of mine are dimming... it definitely only looks like the driver side is a dimming mirror though.

You will have an outline on the edge of the passenger side mirror if you have them on both. I know some of the previous Laramie's had them on both side, but the new ones aren't coming out with both from what I can tell. It's only on the limited.

yeah that's what i was assuming.... looks like it's just my driver's side

Same here. The drivers mirror has a very thin line that is the border for the dimming glass. I don’t see it on the passenger side mirror.

Tried the heated mirrors for the 1st time today in my new to me 21 to clear moisture. The passenger side cleared in a few minutes but the drivers side didn't. So I left the heat on the 30 minute drive to work. The drivers side had maybe a tiny bit of heat to the touch and the passenger side was nice and warm. Got a few months of warranty left so I guess I'll take to the dealer sometime soon.

Hello,

If you would like any additional support while you work with your dealer on this, please feel free to reach out via private message. We'd be happy to connect you with one of our specialists at that time.
