I think I have everything I need to get this Alfaobd up and running. Veepeak obd reader w Alfaobd on android pad and a 12+8 pin obd cable.
But after many searches and useless YouTube videos, I dont know where to plug the cable.
Before I received the cable...
Should button be pressed in "Accessories" or "Run" postion? I dont know what "MAR" is???
Also, I hooked up the Veepeak and the Alfaobd in the truck. Got them communicating successfully.
I selected "Ram" then "body computer" after that I tried both 2021 options then 20 and 19. But kept getting errors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll get you started even though I'm no alphaobd expert. You need to to remove the the 2 plugs from the SGW module (under the dash to right of steering column) and plug them into the bypass cable. Then plug your odb reader into odb port. That should allow alphaobd to connect. Once connected and before make changes I recommend making a copy of your setting.

@dts828 got you going on the 12+8 cable plug location. For the ECU verification failed screen, just click continue. MAR means ignition in run position with engine off, but for body computer functions (BCM), it doesn’t matter- ignition can be off.

10-4 guys I will get on this first thing in the morning. Thanks a ton for this info.
And for now I dont have any plans to change anything or add any equipment.
I really just want to be ready to read and or clear any trouble codes that may arise.
So far she's only got 1700 mi on the clock. A4B4C271-3C40-421F-8BE0-723250C05C52_1_201_a.jpeg

Ok fellas maybe I got my left and rights confused. Im Thinking sitting in seat facing forward.
Because im not finding anything. On right (gas pedal) side of steering column.
There are two plugs marked I and II directly under column (right and left) as best I can tell, and I did manage to unplug the one on right marked "I" . But it wasn't going to fit my pigtail. (This pigtail I got may be the wrong style.)
Should I be looking at the door side of the column? There are several connections there.

Looking Way up under dash on right side of steering column...I can't really reach.

Pretty much directly above the OBD port. The two ports of the gateway face straight down to the floor.

Ok fellas! Gone elbows deep into her and found the damned thing.
I Pulled the panel from under the steering column. Haha Thank you!!!
On this 2021 Its above all the plugs above left foot. And pointing straight down, just as Jimmy07 said.
More to come after a smoke and coffee break...

So I have to ask as I'm new to the 5th gen trucks but why are you doing this on a brand new truck if you arent changing or adding anything to it?

Ok guys, Its all hooked up and running. Now I gotta go back and watch more videos. UGH.
I dont know if any of this is the right thing to do.
I got my way to "2021 body control module" and currently selected to "Upload gauges log file" to google drive...
Totally guessing this is the right thing.
Its been like 10 minutes and still watching the google circle go round and round????
Any tips on what I should be selecting here???? Because everything Ive clicked is guessing.

The button is pressed in "Run" position with engine off.

I was looking into this myself as I just bought a 21 Bighorn Built to Serve and I want to do the window down with the fob thing. I had that feature on my 11 bighorn but apparently that stopped in 2019. I also want to keep the fog lights on with the high beams as well. From my understanding, the stuff I want to do can be done with the set up you have but I cant justify the cost right now

It’s not gauges log file, it’s faults and status log. But first you need to read the BCM system ID. Connect to the body computer > select battery icon on the bottom right > read system ID (let the list fully populate) > click tools icon up top > upload to google drive > sign in > upload faults and status log > body_chrysler_info. This will put the file into google drive.

I understand. I had to buy this android pad specifically for this. Everything I have is apple/Mac.
So all told Im in to it...$110 - pad, $25 - cord, $40 - Veepeak OBD, $50 - Alfaobd.
$225 total.
Coulda went cheaper on the pad, smaller...but my eyes aint getting no younger and I need things big to see them. argh.

$225 is better than I thought it would be. I dont need to buy the tablet so it's much cheaper for me. Do you have a link for the cord?

Yes. This will be your original factory list of settings you can fall back on.

New guy in the conversation here. Is that a back up in case something goes wrong so you can return everything back to their default settings? I'm looking into this because I want to add the window down function with the key fob

Cool. How does this work if I need to bring the truck to the dealer for warranty work? Im assuming they'll know changes were made to the computers right?
They don’t have a way to figure that out. They can’t see the settings in the BCM like AlfaOBD shows, and even if they could, they wouldn’t know how that translates into the sales codes, and even if they did, they would just think “that’s strange, we’ll just restore the vehicle configuration”.
