Overhead console is inoperable

2019 Ram 1500 Laramie

33,500 miles

Yesterday I noticed that the map lights on the overhead console were no longer turning on after pressing the buttons and opening the doors. The only button that did anything was the one that opens the rear window. Took it to the dealership to have it checked out, the console has "failed" and a new one has been ordered so the old one can be replaced.

Has anyone else had an issue? Surprised that the whole thing has to be replaced, something major must have happened inside.
Has there been a permanent solution found for this? I have found that taking out the fuse for a while and replacing it works temporarily. I’ve resorted to leaving out the screws on the fuse access panel below the steering wheel for quicker access, but sure would like to find a permanent guaranteed fix.

I was looking online, this is not a permanent fix but removing F33 from the internal fuse box for a few minutes will bring this console back to life until the issues shows itself again. Mine did it and I unhooked the battery, which caused issues with my cameras not working for a few hours. I tried this and it resolved the issue, which had some back "AFTER A FACTORY SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WAS DONE REMOTELY" I don't know what the fixed but it wasn't this...

Pulling F33 under the steering column for 10+ minutes will typically reset this issue. Its a pain in the "ars" but it beats paying $700+ for the panel. Mine stopped working not sure when (IT could have been due to a software update overnight) and I had to pull the fuse and at the same time we removed the battery cables, this of course messed with the cameras until morning.

I do know that users have done the F33 fix and it worked for them. I just purchased a fuse bypass from Amazon that will have a switch in it and will install it in a few days. If it works I will let you know. BTW mine did this by itself one night and that's when we did the battery and F33 (not sure what fixed it) but then on day, I had a notification that my truck needed to do a software update and the problem came back. I will do the fuse (OPEN) bypass with and go from there. if the F33 bypass works, I will let you know with the PNs from Amazon.

If I purchased the panel and the issue came back, I WOULD NOT BE A HAPPY CAMPER.

Stellantis (FCA) whatever name they use this week - REALLY needs to get their S--t together...
