For those curious about 2021 production.... Just got a build date for my 2021 Limited. Ordered June 30, changed to D1 today, estimated shipping date is Sep 2.
For mine and others with 2020s, the initial "estimated ship date" we received ended up being the actual build date at the plant. Even a ram-chat person told me that.
So I suspect your truck will be built on 9/2 (which makes sense since production doesn't start until 8/31), but might not ship out to dealer until the following week depending on options.

Wow that's relatively quick for a 2021! I wonder how long it takes to build these. I thought production wouldn't start until 8.30.2020 or was that just an estimate?
Yeah, I found this surprising myself. I just re-read the text from the dealer and it definitely says "Estimated Shipping Date is 09/02/2020!!!". I'm not going to believe it until I see it on my driveway.

Are your guy’s dealerships updating you guys with this information on their own, or are you having to contact them? Mine doesn’t tell me anything, I have to keep doing the FCA chat to get anything.

In my case, I reach out every 2-3 weeks for an update cause I know they're busy.

My dealership checks status daily and sends me a text message when the status changes. I didn't ask for this, this is just what they do.

The salesman I’m working with checks status updates daily and texts me whenever there is something new

I was just curious and am starting to think about ordering a New Ram, as I cant seem to find the one I want on a lot. When it comes to ordering how does the final price play out? I dealt a little with a new salesman today and he said I didn't have to put anything down to order and they would pay upon arrival. Is that correct? Also when I build obviously it only shows MSRP are you all finding you can get that down like some on the lot?

Thanks and sorry if this has already been addressed.

I ordered a 1500 ecodiesel on 7/24. I stated I couldn’t find what I wanted anywhere in the country and I’d order if I received a price as if buying from the lot. Got lucky and the dealer I dealt with was great. From my experience so far and also from reading many threads here, you can lock in a “dealer discount” right away but as far as any RAM incentives/rebates/finance offers those are determined when the truck arrives. Those change often and from I understand they won’t lock those in at the time of order. So you take a Slight risk But you get the truck you want. My MSRP was 64865 and before ordering we agreed to 57397 plus any rebates available when the truck arrives. They ran my credit to ensure i could afford it and took a $500 deposit (said they would and took card info but so far never charged it) I’m sure if I took one off the lot I could get another 2-3k off but I’d rather risk that and get the exact truck I want vs settling for one with to many or not enough options. hope that’s helpful, I’m in no way an expert but that’s my story.

I built my truck on the website. Saved the PDF. Sent it to 20 dealers nearby and asked what’s the best OTD price they could give me. After a few days of back and forth and haggling via email only, I went with the best offer. I refused any phone call or in-person meeting. Highly recommend that method.

Finally, I picked up my new Ram on Wednesday. Readers’ Digest version (for those of us who actually know what that is and who may have held one in our hands) on my order is as follows:

Ordered February 29, 2020. In late May, thanks to the good folks in this forum, I realized I would not be able to stand living with a puny 26 gallon fuel tank, so on May 30, 2020 I made a change to my order while it was still in D1 status to include the 33 gallon tank. I believe this put my Ram at the back of the line for the build, but I was willing to wait, and I am surely glad I did.

On August 5, 2020 I took the trek to Phoenix to pick it up from Bill Luke Ram.

Since getting it home, I have installed a screen protector, Carven cat back exhaust, and OPT7 light bar. For those of you who were adamant that the OPT7 would not fit with the multifunction tailgate, you are incorrect. I followed RamVader’s instructions and installed mine yesterday. I did remove my tailgate to open up the area of operation, but both RamVader and I can attest, it fits under the split tail. It is a very tight fit, but it does in fact fit. I also installed a BlendMount radar detector mount for my Escort Redline, with M1 camera. I removed the mirror housing and hardwired the power plug into the power for the windshield camera.

I know I should be posting some of this in the What Did You Do To Your Ram Today thread, and I will as soon as I get some time, but for those of you in this thread and in particular RamVader who was kind enough to remind me to post an update to this thread, I thought I would update you first. I also need to update BasicBark’s Pandemic Buyer’s thread soon, which I will do in short order.

Here are a few pics of my Ram and the Carven exhaust I installed last night (wife was happy to see one of many boxes of auto parts being removed from garage, but unhappy to see I turned garage in to auto repair shop preventing her from parking her Jeep her usual spot). My Ram is very dirty right now due to some rain where I live and covered with fingerprints due to my recent garage efforts, but once I get it cleaned up, the paint sealed, and ceramic coated, I will post some of my Ram when the crystal black can reflect my image like a mirror.

Up today/tomorrow for install are the RamAir CAI and Hellwig sway bar. I have the Husky mud flaps to put on too and some Lamin-X tint for the tail lights and headlights, along with the SprintBooster to install, and some LASFIT LEDs for the third brake light, but there are only 24 hours in a day and I do love this Ram, but other things in life are just a little more important.

I am also very glad that I ordered for 33 gallon fuel tank. You are correct. It was worth the wait for that option

That's great for you. The 2021's are supposed to start on 8-31 so you just made it.

Yep! I just got an update on Friday. It was confirmed it would be built last "ish" week of August, and I would be able to take possession mid-September. (I don't know how much of an update that is) We will see how this year's new model release schedule compares to years prior. Could prove to be very interesting.

Finally got mine in after ordering March 16th. Only to have to wait another two weeks because the guy that washes and parks the cars decided it was too much of a hassle to get out of the car and move the traffic cone he was avoiding. At least I’m close!
