Did you really pay $50k for a new old 2019 with 26k on it?
I only paid 45K for my 2019 brand new in 2018. It is pretty loaded for a bighorn, sticker was 57K back then. I've started to have a few issues with it, gas tank just had to be replaced, they covered it even though out of warrenty. Now my back window frame is cracked, trying some silicone before I pay to get it replaced.

Many times in my life I've heard, "Don't buy the first model year of a vehicle."

I've been really lucky with my 1st model year vehicles, I started to think back and realized I've owned a whole lot of first year models....

- 1993 Acura Integra (1st year of 3rd gen, all new, minor paint issue on rear bumper, zero mechanical issues until I screwed it up over 100K miles later)

- 1993 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab (1st year of 2nd gen, all new, no issues, still running strong today!)

- 1999 BMW 328I (the all new E46 platform, one of the first models into the US, replaced cooling system at 100K, but they all did that even years later.)

- 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4.6L (1st year of 2nd gen, zero issues, kept until 100K)

- 2015 Ford F150 XLT 2.7L (all new everything, first time aluminum body & 2.7L V6 turbo, only issue was replacing a sensor in gas tank under warranty, eventually traded in on RAM)

- 2019 RAM 1500 Rebel (all new 5th gen, zero issues so far with over 3 years and counting)

Hello everybody. Ive been stalking these forums for a while now and decided i should stop being a creep and make a profile. I purchased a new to me 2019 ram 1500( new body style) a few months ago. I have not been happy with the quality of this rig. I bought it with 26,000 miles on it and it now has 36,xxx miles on it. I have driven it alot since ive had it..
Its super nice looking and comfortable and powerful!! But it has really stupid issues;
first the exhaust bolts rotted away and made a flange seperate, downstream, before the muffler. Fixed that myself has to tap bolts out and install new bolts and gasket.
The transmission had harsh downshifts-dealer addressed issue by updating tcm.
Excessive wind noise-dealer cannot recreate.
tailgate sticking closed hard to open, have to push in to release-fixed myself by adjusting strike pin.

Driveshaft clunk coming to and leaving a stop -really annoying and make the truck feel like garbage -dealer cannot see an issue …i think its the 2 piece driveshaft that has excessive play and slop..dealership keeps checking the brakes and charging me $180 for diagnostic..thanks!

Now theres this terrible rattling ,exhaust leak type noise on cold starts..sounds like a tractor when cold.hope its not collapsed lifters..
Very loud squeaking from driver side front when hitting small bumps in the road.

Radio loses all sound unless i switch from fm to sirius back to radio.
The truck is a 2019 ram bighorn,crew cab,6’4” box,4x4,hemi,level 2 package,3.92 rear.

The truck has 36,000 miles on it. Doesnt seem to be abused by its first owner either. Just seems like really poor manufacturing /quality control.
The dealership makes me feel like im crazy when i come in concerned about these issues. Im not too fond of fixing issues on my own on a $50,000 truck. The dealership doesnt want to help much unless i shell out the big bucks!

If anybody can chime in and offer advice i would much appreciate it! I feel like i bought a lemon!!
Have you guys been having these issues? Havent ram figured out the manifold warping thing yet?
How hard is it to make a drivetrain that is silent ?
This truck reminds me of the 2006 ram i had that thing was a POS…. Was hoping they got better but…😢
Ramcares -can you chime in ?
I dont know if this helps but i had the "clunk" and Rattle issue when I first got my truck and after 3 trips to dealership, (with no help whatsoever) I took my truck to a different dealership location and they tightened my truck's loose ball joints. Took them 15 min and never heard the clunking again.

plenty of us have purchased during and after covid with no issues. Speak for yourself.
I've had to deal with so so much half assed underspec stuff in the past year, its absolutely insane. QA is right out the window on so many things and the suppliers do not care at all. They are taking in whatever they can get to ship goods even if it's not even close to spec. Stuff fails or isn't even fit for use at all and they are trying to charge more. F that. I've been making people eat entire loads of contracts and refusing entire trucks of goods. We are actually making money due to the contract penalties. I'm not sacrificing integrity even if they all are sold out. I'm willing to bet pretty much anything and everything is just as bad. Just wait until time under the curve starts eating all this stuff because it was made without the stabilizers or lubricants or friction modifiers other "magic" ingredients.

Also take a look at how many major auto manufacturers are taking charges on their balance sheets for an uptick in future warranty claims...

Yeah material goods are being done like digital goods, ship it now, fix it later, if they get caught.

You gotta tag them correctly for it to alert them. I did it.
I didn't need it. I noticed on the first page it was tagged correctly with no response.

However, should owners need a special contact to get simple and qualified warranty work?

"no one wants to work anymore" seriously though the single biggest fault is the dealership model and the completely arbitrary diagnostics, process and workmanship variation.

It all comes down to is the dealer you using sucky all the time, just having a bad day, or decent on occasion, or awesome at all times or somewhere in between. The manufacturer is failing everyone by not pushing standards, and not keeping up quality and also shoving crap out the door and relying on dealers to fix it on warranty when it's brought in. Not having good diagnostic flows, not retaining competent mechanics and relying on a computer to diag and tell them everything, and if the computer doesn't "see" something and the truck isn't obviously on fire or missing parts and then sending people on their way with no problem found does not help either.

So you player dealer whack a mole, and they try to run out the clock on warranty time, or you call them on it, or a good dealer steps up and gets it done, or gets "goodwill". The whole process still relies on someone somewhere going above and beyond to fix a systemic shortcoming.

Were these "early" builds? Would be helpful if the guys having issues with their 2019 Rams posted their build dates.
I had an issue with the AC on mine just before the 3 year warranty was up (no cold air - they replaced compressor & trans cooler under warranty at no charge) but that's it....knock wood, it's been fine other than that. Mine was built 3/25/19 so it was a bit later in the run.

I know there can be slipshod builds at any point depending on who/when is working on them (non caring worker who wants a raise hungover on a Monday morning, for example) but I was wondering if a lot of the problem trucks as a group have early build dates in common.

They do not care,...I paid 62K for my new 2022 Laramie 2500 and broke down at "150 miles" left to fend for myself.....Dodge has never been able to fix it and wanted to screw me out of 10K off the cost on a buy back because we put 11,000 miles on it or they would give us 4K to put up with the issues and sign a NDA....whenever I hook to any trailer all the bells and whistles go off, lifters started making noise at 10K miles, transmission slams into gear and it shutters between gears. They have put in 3 radios and 2 brake controllers and continue to say that the problem is my 6 trailers and not their truck.....Dodge had my truck at their dealership 4 months of the first 6 months that I've owned it. This is really sad because I liked the truck initially however the manufacturers disconcert for its customers is obvious. Quinn

I understand your frustration but please refrain from spamming/crossposting every thread here on the forums.

Your posts will show up for everyone to see under What's New, so there's no need to shotgun the entire site. Failure to heed my fair warning would not be wise.

If you feel the need to vent, please reply to your own thread you started in Aug, but be reasonable. Your personal crusade is understandable but only to the point it becomes disruptive to the site.
