Nitto Ridge Grappler VS BFG KO2

I’m interested in size 285x65R20 (or 35x11.5x20). I haven’t seen them in load range lower than E!
 
Only problem with ko2s is the tread life. 20km or 16k miles and i was under half tread. 7mm remaining.. i have 50km or 35k miles on duratracs and still at 11mm. To each there own.

I wonder why there is such a discrepancy in tread life. My KO2’s have 20,000 miles and barely look used (haven’t measured tread depth). I do lots of highway driving and some off road dirt stuff on occasion. Expecting I’ll get 50,000 out of mine. I am starting to notice a little more road noise, though.

I am skeptical too for a couple reasons:
1. Measuring tread depth is janky at best (uneven wear, method?, inflation)
2. I've had 4 sets on 3 different trucks and got 40+k from all of them with on/off road use (generally 38-40 psi)
3. The length of time that passes, IMHO, always seems much shorter than what has actually passed (including mileage...have to refer to docs to get actuals)
 
For the guys with the Ridge Grapplers, how much of an mpg hit do you estimate you took coming from stock?
 
I finally installed the the Nitto Ridge Grappler (285x65x20). I love the look. No rubbing at all. I wanted to get 35*12.5*20 but that would definitely rub.

In terms of comfort, it is very close to stock. HOWEVER, the Noise... It's very noisy in my opinion. Please tell me the noise will go or decrease very soon. Both my wife and daughter noticed the noise once we hit the highway. We had to turn on the radio to make it go!

Love the look of your setup. I have used ridge grapplers and haven’t noticed much in the way of noise...but then again I’ve also used trail grapplers before and those are loud! Just different perspectives I guess...

a question for you though...what made you go with 285/65r20 and not 35/11.5r20? They are the same size...I’ve been looking into these tires and was wondering why one over the other. And what lift are you using?? Thanks! And looking good!!

Well, it came down to 2 factors.

1- I was worried that the extra 0.3" or so in hight/width will cause the rub. I had these tires shipped all the way to me in Saudi Arabia, so returning them was not an option. Look wise, no one could tell them apart, even from a 12" distance.

2- This size was readily available by the seller, where for the 35*11.5 I had to wait TWO FULL DAYS :)

I have daystar and revel links (lifted the front by ~1.5 inches)

That’s hilarious! Whenever I buy things nowadays, I am like what do you mean I have to wait until tomorrow. When back in the day, it was always 4-6 weeks or more! Lol!!

I was just trying to see if there was a specific reason for the LT tires over the non-LT.

Is that Sheetz gas station!?!
 
The Ridge Grapplers are noisier than a AT. I come from the Jeep world so mud terrain style tires don’t bother me. If you are looking for perfect quiteness, not your tire. I bought LT’s because a pull a car hauler with my Jeep. I want a good LT tire instead of that Goodyear Eagle that came with the 22’s.
