My truck indicated it needed to update the software this morning. I started it and it took approximately 40mins to complete. I don’t see anything major except it says it now supports wireless CarPlay. I have an iPhone 11 with vs14 IOS and cannot seem to figure out how to connect CarPlay wirelessly. Still connects fine via wired. I deleted my phone and reconnected it, didn’t seem to help. I have checked several settings on my phone. Anyone else get CarPlay to work on 2021 Ram? Thanks in advance!

What software version are you running? You can find out by holding the left and the right outermost buttons on the bottom of the screen.

Mine hit me up yesterday morning, and thankfully so.

When I first fired it up to head to work after driving back and forth to OKC over the weekend, I could hear not only a tune playing from USB1, but also some ‘morning team radio guys’ talking about the Olympics and whatever else (I could barely make it out over the music). Hit ‘Mute,’ and it all went away… back on, it came back on. I switched to radio and the radio station came on without the guys… back to USB, and I heard the tunes switch out with the ‘morning team radio guys’ still talking about how the Olympians are being treated like sports robots and expected to always win. WTF?! So then I got this bright idea to switch over to SiriusXM, and see what was playing: “‘90s on Nine.” OK… well, THAT’S not it (Shaggy - Mr. Bombastic)… but when I switched back to USB, it went away. Wow. So, this is the kind of flaky crap a lot of others are complaining about and needing an update. Well… ask, and ye shall receive. When I pulled into the parking lot and shut the truck off, a message came up on the screen talking about needing an update, and did I want to schedule it for later or do it now. Pfft! Do it now, of course! It had 45 minutes to go when I got out of the truck. When I went out about 4 hours later, it was done and my center stack of electronics isn’t bricked. It wouldn’t let me read the ‘This is what’s new notes’ without activating the ‘Assistance Service’ since the ‘what’s new’ stuff is in the ‘Vehicle Care Information’ section. Meh - whatever... I'll just check the update version later when I head home.

As an upside, my RAZR hasn't dropped pairing since Friday. I’m not sure if making UConnect a secured device in the RAZR settings did it, or if the update helped, or if it worked itself out, or if I’m just waiting for the next drop. I guess we’ll see how it goes.

Thank you Mister 4x4, does your updated version CarPlay work wirelessly now? Have you tried it?

UConnect 4 does not support wireless CarPlay. It's a hardware limitation which will be available in UConnect 5 (2022 MY).

Cheers,

No. I didn’t see what was new but I think wireless CarPlay needs new hardware to work.

Thank you all, I was afraid it was a hardware limitation, but never hurts to ask. Thank you again all!

Sorry Man, I ain't gonna lie - I don't use it. I have a USB Thumb Drive for all my tunes.

Good idea taking a pic of the screen - I keep looking for a Post-It pad and a pen, since I'm relatively new to smart phones (duh...).

I just got an update last week and mine is now 21.03.11 . Guess I'm always behind .

My update started a few minutes ago when I parked at work.

You are not behind. You have a different hardware version than the ones in this thread, therefore a different software version.

Anyone find out what's new with this version? I checked mine last week and I'm still on 21.05.11. I haven't used my truck since Sunday so I might check it this afternoon if I have the update.

Mine has been cutting off bluetooth lately to where i have to close Pandora and reopen it on my phone to get it going again.
Hope this new update fixes that.

That's mine, too. Hopefully, between making my RAZR 2020 recognize UConnect as a 'Trusted Device' and this update, the Bluetooth dropping out randomly ever few days has been resolved. Unfortunately, the RAZR's saying it's time to update to Android 11... I hope that's not a step backward for my issues, although I gotta wonder if the Android update drove the UConnect update [for continued compatibility purposes].

Seems like there's a lot of not knowing what the update included (mine installed yesterday afternoon). This thread on the Wrangler forum implies it's mainly performance improvements and minor camera bug fixes.

Anyone else find any other nuggets of info?
