We came to the same basic conclusion. I was considering making them with a 1/2" - 3/4" notch to make them adjustable, but I think that's what we're planning.
We're still awaiting some parts - a mid-gate striker, weather caps for the MFT frame, and interior bed liner covers.
Do you have photos of your adaptors in place and functional? I think there's plenty of clearance for the bolts that hold them in - how bad is it to torque them so they don't rotate?
Today's project was mounting the replacement bumper (Chassis Unlimited), and salvaging wiring harnesses. Lost one of the backup sensors, so I am now waiting on a replacement sensor set, and connectors, as well as some weather sealed 2 pin connectors for the license plate lights, since the old ones don't snap into the new bumper.
Once the other parts get in, there will be updates....
