Was out looking at different cars for her 1500 replacement today. Saw this on a Kia Sorento, of all things... You've got to be kidding me... On a new Sorento??

We also looked at a Hyundai lot, the sales girl said "You can't drive anything unless you are ready to buy".
We walked off...

Then we spent 2 hours at an Acura dealer and drove 2 MDX's and 2 RDX's. The salesman would have earned my business just from his relaxed "concierge" attitude and right up front "If you have a car buying service quote from AAA, Costco etc that can save you 2-2500 right off the MSRP price."

2 Total opposite experiences...

Interesting, we were also looking at a new Hyundai Sorrento, however all the ones on the lot were spoken for, as well as their allocations still on shipping trucks. Crazy market right now.

I've been also been wanting to buy a fun little weekend car as well, one (in a regular market) $5,000 or less sporty manual tranny hatchback or a Mustang GT. However, the prices are so elevated right now, it makes no practical sense especially when the market comes back down in a year or two. Unless you are selling with no need to buy, stay out of this market if you can.

This just forces me to wait, which sucks!!!

When I started looking I went into the GMC dealer, wanting to order a Denali.
The sales girl said they were going to add $10K just to order the truck.
I walked over to Ram and put $6500 down. Then I found 5th gen rams and affiliate pricing.
Called my CDJR Fleet guy to see if the dealership would honor the program, he was "no problem".
I had gotten 10 company leased vans through him the last 28 years.
I never was anxious waiting for any of those orders though. Another 3 to 5 weeks.
Probably have customer for life, it is funny when I started looking I forgot all about the fleet guy.
I am glad I remembered him and found 5th gen rams saved me $8500.

Yeah, because the dealer isn't giving you crap off MSRP on a new one. They're using other sources to make up for discounts.
I can order a Durango for between 7 and 9% under MSRP minus current incentives (2 dealers have offered that) but as far as getting (any other brand) off the lot that has been reduced, that's a no go.

My step dad bought an RDX from the dealer in Burlington. He is very pleased!

Lets just say the days of quotes like this are OVER! This was for a NEW 20 Tradesman 4x4 Pretty base truck.
$17,000 OFF. Not this year! and its going to be a long long long time before you see any rebates like this on ANY truck!

Yeah, Toyota and Hyundai/Kia seem to be killing it right now in the SUV market. Average time on the lot of a RAV4 is a smidge under 10 days, I read. Probably also explains why I see them popping up on every road I drive.

People are paying the high prices. I don’t see them ever coming back down.

One reason they are is because there are legit needs. Today I saw an intersection wreck and the cars involved both looked totalled, air bag deployment etc. Now if they had GAP insurance they get the full cost to replace. If they didn't they still have the higher used car values, so the msrp circle continues.

When enough chips get into new vehicles and there's not the shortage on dealers lots then new and used prices should correct/decline. I have no insider knowledge however its got to take a few months to get the backlog caught up.

Surprisingly the local Ferd dealer actually had a decent stock while across the street the Chevy dealer looked like a ghost town lot. The Ford salesman I talked to (still trying to get the wife to make up her mind on the size/make of vehicle she wants) said they had an aggressive car buying team so at least they had stock. Same with the RAM dealer 40 minutes away, he has hundreds (literally) of new trucks on his lot.

Just bought this last weekend with an FCA control number and was turned down by a few dealers in the phx area, one even said they would cut me a deal and do 500 under sticker...no thanx, lucky I found dealer that did about 2% under invoice and paid me almost 10k for an 08 yukon xl denali that was beat to crap and 155kmiles, with no tpms and many other broken items

A friend of mine lives in L.A. and he posted these prices on Facebook. I know California is ridiculous, but these people are smoking crack.
