Mopar Ram airflow kit

My question is with the new Ram Air-flow kit, I wonder what they are doing with the (AGS) active grille shutters? Also do you get a new fan guard or do you have to cut or trim the one you have? I purchased a Vararam from Moe's Performance and I removed the center active grille shutters and kept the top louver, lower louver and actuator so I didn't have to deal with getting a error code. I didn't want to get the actuator delete kit and modify my actuator. I also trimmed my fan guard to accommodate the Vararam.
Typically, any OEM accessory will include all parts to make it a bolt-on, as opposed to requiring modifications to other OEM parts. That’s what I would expect here, and it could partially explain the price.

For me I want a different CAI than stock to free up space for a second battery. I like the vararam but I want it to have a top. Mopar has a top. So that’s what I’ll get. Can’t wait.

Sweet man. When you do get it please give us all a review and thoughts (y)

Worth it to me for the space to add a second battery. Really it’s the delta between this and the vararam. That extra 200 or so is not a big deal. I want the battery. ;)

I’m of the mindset that if I want something then darn it I’m buying it lol. I’m sure that shows in the fact of all those exhausts I’ve purchased as well as wheels and tires.
That’s how I am. Don’t matter what the price is. I also know that Mopar and dealer parts will always cost more. That’s how it’s always been for the past 20 years and so on. Nothing shocking to see this product at this price. I also understand that not everyone can afford to have that type of mindset so I get that too. I sure do get on my wife’s nerves at times though with this mindset. Sometimes I purchase stuff without looking at the price. She asks, “how much did it cost”? I say I don’t know. I just need it and whatever it cost, well that’s just how much it cost. Hahaha

^^^. Darn lol we could be twins, that’s why I have two storage units that I use for my play stuff. Again I’m not saying that how I do things is for everyone, I’m saying it’s what I do and I’m good with that. :)

Haha. I hear you and understand you. Wasn’t saying you meant is was for everyone just so you know.

This is my first truck. Not my first new vehicle. But definitely first new truck. Before this truck, I would spend lots of money on electronics. Well, I still do. That’s where my money goes too. And I have this stupid mentality that whatever I’m buying, I want the best model for me. Which the model always ends up being the most expensive. Now with this truck, I feel like I’m going to be spending some more money. I just haven’t decided what I want to do yet. Low profile truck or 2 inch lift with 35’s? So much to think about and decide. Good thing is I’m not just blowing all of my money. Haha. This is the money spent after all the savings and bills are paid.

Good deal, I have a play budget designed solely for my vehicles so nothing gets put on hold while I enjoy doing what I do. I used to spend tens of thousands on my car audio ( SQ ) addiction, now I’m on a exhaust kick and who knows what’s after that.

I’m like you guys. My next project is to rip out all the speakers and go with the new alpine X series amp and speakers. I sat in the official alpine truck and wow. I realize it has three amps etc. but no center Speakers yet the singer sounded like it was right in the middle of the dash. Amazing sound. I don’t need all the power but that sounds was amazing. Working on the parts list now.

^^^. Well if you are feeling generous, please share what you find as far as that system.

Well it’s going to be involved. I like to buy audio electronics thru crutchfield as they make it easier for do it yourselvers.

I’ll give you bit more info on the installation issues. On the dash you have 3.5” size speakers. These are not what you would normally consider a 3.5” speaker on the aftermarket side, they essentially function as tweeters - they are EQ up to push higher range frequencies but don’t quite hit the high ranges that a true tweeter does nor have quite the detail (in my opinion, these types of OEM systems are a bit flat). In the doors we have 6x9 woofers, but Dodge uses a small cutout in the door steel and most aftermarket 6x9s need a larger opening than what is there. We also have mounting depth and mounting height issues to contend with.

I am looking at the Type X 6x9 component speakers for the front like http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500XS69C/item.html . Im planning to mount the tweeter into the dash 3.5” location, i will need to make a bit of a bracket for them to fit. The best way to do this is using a backstrap like this https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120BKSTRAP/item.html. You can see in the pictures on the product page how they have mounted the tweeter to the strap and then bent that to fit down into the existing dash location.

For the front door woofer, the cutout we have to work with in there is 8.35” x 5.87” with a mounting depth of 2.92” and a mounting height of 0.68”. The Type X 6x9 woofer needs a cutout of 8.77” x 5.88, a depth of 3.1” and have a mounting height of 0.41”. As you can see, we have two primary issues with putting the Type X 6x9 woofer in the door. The existing cutout is a bit small and we are about 0.2” short on having enough depth. We do have just enough clearance on the mounting height for you to make a 0.25” spacer to lift the speaker up so that we have depth we need. This should also take care of the cutout problem. To make the spacer, I will use 0.25” MDF board. There is no pre-made adapter that I have seen to do this.

Im also looking at putting the 6x9 components in the rear door, and the cutout is still an issue, but we have a bit more depth and height clearance. To avoid having to cut into the door steel to make that cutout larger to fit the speaker, making another spacer should solve that problem here as well. Then I will need to make a spot to mount the new tweeter since there is no existing location.

Oh yes, for the amp, that’s easy. I like the Alpine X-A90V. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500XA90V/Alpine-X-A90V.html?tp=35808 it will go in place of the OEM.

So it’s very involved to say the least.

Bully there is a crap load of space between the frame under the truck. On my 3500, I had three 2.5 gallon air tanks, and four compressors. Ran a hose to the front bumper and the rear bumper. Worked great for years. Had the vent for the compressors ran up between the cab and the bed. I went into deep water many times. No issues.
