I went with the original Defender LTX M/S. Its a proven tire with tons of great reviews. The jury is still out on the M/S 2 and I've read some people complain about the road noise of the M/S2 compared to the M/S

Loved mine, they just wore out too fast.

I think I only got 40k out of them. My drive is mostly highway, too.

After 10,000 miles they are very good. Much better than the OE Bridgestone tires. Wet traction is excellent and they did well in the snow. I do mostly highway driving and they are quiet and smooth.

What size? An 18" will ride much different than a 22". Do you have air suspension? That also plays a big role.

I put a set of M/S 2's on my GT back in March and had a hard time getting them balanced correctly. After a couple of serious road force balances, Discount finally got it sorted out and it's been fine since. They perform like i've come to expect from the Michelin M/S series over the years. Quiet, smooth, and all around good performance in varying conditions.

My truck has 22's but also has air suspension so the ride is pretty decent.

Have you considered Michelin’s CrossClimate2 tires? I put some on as soon as I got the Ram - mostly due to not liking the OEM tire in rain (Louisiana life). I looked at both tires and both seem great, I have a personal testimony with the CC2’s given my wife’s Pilot in which we had them on for 40k miles through Louisiana weather and even snow in the mountains and at 40k still looked new, the come w/60k warranty… biggest complaint from folks is noise, but if you rotate them regularly we had zero issue. Just a thought for you…

of note, I have 22’s w/air suspension as well and do mostly highway driving with some light hauling.

I've had several sets of the M/S across several trucks and SUV's over the years...have always been excellent in all conditions, including light off-road, however only on the RAM I notice a bit more road noise, which is surprising. I'd be surprised if the M/S2 is much different, but I'm curious if you end up trying the "2".

I recommend Kumho Crugen HT51. Great 70k mile tire, every customer I have recommended them to likes them. My dad runs them year round in Northern Michigan. Rate very similar on tire rack. They cost about $50 less per tire. Look at the two, treads are very similar.
