Wondering if anyone else is have this issue. When first starting the truck the driver's ventilated seat fan is noticeably loud, seems to rise in pitch and generally just doesn't sound right. After 3 -5 minutes it calms down. Seems to be getting worse over time.

Mine has 10K on it now...didn't start making noise until about 1000K ago - hoping someone else has had this fixed (warranty) and what this issue was.

Mine does this intermittently as well. Kind of like a loud buzz or cards in a bicycle spoke etc?. Only does it about 10% of the time.

I bought my truck on Halloween. Therefore I never checked ac or ac seats. I used the ac for the first time ever Monday and seemed to work ok, but I noticed the ventilated seats were definitely louder than expected. I’ve never had ac seats before ,,,so didn’t know if this is to be expected?

Happens to me as well. If I reach around to the backside of the seat and give it a thump, I can sometimes get the noise to stop.

I believe if you re-position your weight against the back of the seat, you can change the pitch of the noise which makes me think the fan blades are rubbing on the padding inside the seat.

My seat fan also started making this loud noise that lasts several minutes after turning the seat fan on as well. Some time after 15k km. Took to my dealer and service tech confirmed the noise. My paperwork shows that the tech recommended replacing the drivers seat. Currently waiting on parts for that (and for some TSBs they’re doing as well) to arrive.

Being my first vehicle with ventilated seats, I figured it was normal to hear the fan spinning. You all have me wondering if this is yet another thing to bring up to the dealership.

If you've never had these before it will take a bit of getting used to the fan noise. After a while you'll come to appreciate more normal fan noise because more noise means more airflow through the seats which is a good thing.

Abnormal fan noise (like a playing card in your bike spokes) shouldn't be there. From the descriptions it sounds like something from assembly got into the fan blades. No idea what this looks like on our Rams but previous vehicles I've owned were not that hard to get to the fans to see what was up. I even upgraded fans on a previous car to get more airflow and more noise with it.

That statement doesn't make sense. Like I said...I don't hear a thing concerning the fans. I did my test drive without anything playing and my wife in the back seat. She was back there to specifically listen for noises/whistles/etc. I've used the seat fans every day as VA has been in the 90's daily now since I bought it. I don't hear it. With or WITHOUT music. It's absolutely silent. When I put head down near the back of the seat while during my inspection I heard them, but for some reason I don't expect to be driving with my head near the floor in the back seat.

Well, I wish I would have saw this thread earlier. I jumped in my truck today and since the radio was off, I noticed this noise...kinda like radio static. So first I cut off the A/C, thinking it could be the fan...nope. Then I had the ingenious thought that it was possibly the noise cancellation making noise to drown out unwanted noise...don't laugh because no thoughts are "bad" when brainstorming... right? Finally, my wife hopped into the truck, turned on her seat and then remarked..."Wow...my ventilated seat makes a lot of noise". (Lightbulb goes off) I cut off my ventilated seat and the mystery noise stopped. I briefly considered not letting my wife know she had just solved my problem (problem solving is man's work), but I figured since we both agree that "I think I know everything", I should take my medicine...and so I confessed. We had a good laugh...but she was laughing a little too hard, lol. Dang truck! It is not supposed to make me look bad! lol

I rarely use that function because it’s so loud. My 4th gen was the same way.

Mine is pretty noisy as well. I really didn't notice it until recently. I have had the truck for one year and 11,500 miles.

The ventilated seats are fairly loud normally but more of just a blowing noise (my old 4th gen and new 5th gen) but the noise I'm experiencing and the OP, I believe, is a different noise. It's like a loud grinding sound that sometimes is there, sometimes not. The dealer did hear my noise and is replacing the fan under warranty. I will report back if it does fix the grinding sound.
