I have a friend who owns a collision center/body shop and we do a little trading on services. I ordered the hood, fasteners, plastic inserts from him and he painted. Something to note is, rarely does a shop panel paint a hood only without blending the fenders. There can be color variations based on metal flake, surface plane differences, paint manufacturer etc. I chose NOT to blend my fenders but understand there could at certain lighting or angles show just a slight variation. The factory actually records your VIN along with paint variances throughout the assembly year and records them for body shops. A paint code is no longer sufficient.

I think my window tint is 20% and my tires are Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/55r22
Here are the parts

Quick question for you sir.
Does this list of parts everything needed for new hood, or did you reuse anything off your old hood?

Did your shop say how much it would normally cost to paint?

Seriously looking to do this same thing on my Laramie.

There is a front strip of rubber that is reused, and also the washer nozzles and whatever it takes to make them work. I have no idea what it would have cost to paint and install. Sorry.

Oh no worries, and I do appreciate the write up you did. I'll call around and get some quotes.

I just looked. EBAY HAS SELLERS SELLING OEM 19 sport hoods. Different colors. 150 shipping...600 or so for the hood itself.

Find one close maybe save the shipping. I assume it will have weatherstrip. I didnt look that closely.

Then theres always, make an offer options... they may just accept your offer.

Do you have a link? I tried searching, but cannot find it. Maybe my wording is off in the search.

I did mine via the dealership and had them drop it off to the bodyshop. Will never deal with that shop again just based upon several things. Happy that I did the swap out though. 3E4FAD3C-823B-41A1-8798-9A190DC189F1.jpeg

I just left my 1500 part chrome to keep some contrast with it. It really goes a long way towards changing up the look as it’s coming towards you.

If you go the route of building a Laramie with the Sport option and outfit close to the limited you end up pretty close in price points, and you lose the rear ventilated seats and a few other things from what I remember. But personally I like the Laramie Sport Trim better than the limited's wood grain.

Im currently working on the same deal with a Limited. Swapping a hood and wheels from a Sport. $800 for the hood & $500 for the wheels. This is CAD.. so like 600us for the hood and 375 for the wheels.. not bad i thought..
