Switch that same engine to turbos and you will gain at least 100hp to the wheels. With no other changes, maybe some tune weaks to account for differences.

Every review I've watched of the turbos (GM, Ford, and Ram), goes something like this: "almost no turbo lag!". Ok. You know what has absolutely zero turbo lag? A v8. Even a supercharger hits harder initially.

A lot of opinion on these engines are biased. It's shiny, new, fast. I get it. I love one publication, maybe it was Edumnds, few years ago they were praising the 5th gen when it came out, absolutely love(d) the hemi, called it smooth, powerful, "couldn't feel the trailer" etc etc. Few years later the hurricane comes out and they're singing its praises (ok) and then comes the sh|t-on-the-hemi talk which they seem to think they need to do: "the old one wasn't very good". And yes they notice the turbo lag

I drove a Wagoneer rental last year with the Hurrycane and had to look under the hood to believe it wasn't a Hemi - I noticed zero turbo lag and it had some stones for sure. Thing liked to smoke the tires right through the traction control.

You want lag, go drive a (pre 25) Cummins truck.

Also for context, DD is a mildly tuned bi-turbo A6. Yea, there's some lag.

In terms of auto publication review, both can be true, at the time maybe the Hemi was everything they said it was, now it's not compared to a new engine.

Twin turbo Ecoboost, I felt zero lag, and the 1:1 thottle ratio on the Hemi feels absolutely laggy compared to my Hemi, I owned both at the same time, trust me when I say the Hemi felt sluggish off the line compared to my Ecoboost, and that's before I put it in sport mode and the throttle ratio went even higher.

But as I mentioned, a lot of this could be from the factory throttle and transmission settings on that Ecoboost compensating for how the power is delivered. In the end it still results in immediate power delivery. The Hurricane I tested is at another level.
