Yup another recall for me. But still trying to get them to stop my squealing brakes that they just try to keep cleaning. At least they have to fix this one.

Checked the Mopar site and my Rebel got tagged for the Air bag module recall too. I'd actually be surprised if almost everyone here isn't notified that their Ram is recalled. Seems like a biggy.

Stay safe out there! Or as safe as you can, without power steering, brakes, steering wheels or airbags.

Hi Everyone,
We just wanted to share the corporate statement regarding this recall with you all. Please let us know via private message if you have any additional questions.
FCA US is voluntarily recalling an estimated 295,981 vehicles in the U.S. to help ensure the function of certain restraint systems.

An FCA US investigation discovered certain vehicles are equipped with occupant restraint control modules that may not properly reset when their engines are turned off. This software error may inadvertently disable airbags and seatbelt pretensioners, making these devices unavailable in a collision.

Data collected by FCA US indicate the potential for such an event is highly remote. Further, the Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.

Nevertheless, FCA US is conducting this recall out of an abundance of caution and urges customers, as always, to follow the instructions on their recall notices.

Affected are certain model-year 2019 Ram 1500 pickups trucks, nearly one-third of which are still in dealer hands. Twenty-six model-year 2020 vehicles also are in the recall population, but these are pre-production trucks in the Company’s control.

If a vehicle has exhibited the defect, an instrument-panel warning light may illuminate. Technicians will replace modules in such cases; otherwise, they will update the module’s software.

Service, which is free of charge, is expected to be available later this month.

Saw the recall notice when I signed into MyRam app. Getting it checked tomorrow during an oil change. If the recall repair is needed they will order the part (new ORC). Here’s the repair description...

Already called the dealer and have appt this Friday. My dealer serves free breakfast and lunch, free car wash and will drive me to the train station (or home) and pick me. My kids always ask if we need to go to the dealership to check on something for the truck because the dealer also provides free, really good hand packed ice cream from a local company. I told them I got a recall on the truck and they all yelled FREE ICE CREAM!!!

Wow! If my dealer did all that I’d get something done every month. Mopar has what about 200 add ons available? That gives you and the fam 16 years of free meals and ice cream!!!

lol, yes. The dealer service dept is really good. If they are going to have my truck overnight, free loaner. Apparently one of the top 5 FCA dealer service departments in the country and its 8 min drive from my house. And if for some reason I'm somewhere where I need a free car wash or emergency ice cream/pizza I can go to their BMW or Volvo or Land Rover or Porche or Rolls Royce or Cadillac or Mazda or Lexus or Bentley and of course any of their FCA dealerships. I broke a body bolt on my Jeep that wasn't under warranty. They figured out a way to fix it under 3 hours and only charge me $200 bucks to fix it. Lots of folks trying to mod their Jeeps same exact way broke same bolt, no warranty coverage and charged more than $1,000 bucks and kept their Jeeps for a week. Some dealers charged even more than that and sent the work out to a body shop to total remove the body from the frame. Crazy.

Having mine done tomorrow.

Snowpants you’ll appreciate this -

My dealer hires out from the local club topless women to FEED the customers ice cream. We are then offered a massage in a lazy boy accompanied by a glass of bubbly and our choice of music on a free iPod and $100 cash. We of course usually pass that on to the working girls. it’s a very hands on experience

If that’s not your bag there’s an indoor surf park and spa outback

Just teasing - that’s awesome you’ve got a great local dealer

Seems like a simple fix. If you read the whole notice instead of the headline, there were no accidents as a result of this recall. The positive thing here is its a proactive recall vs a reactive people-crashed-or-died-because-of-something recall. More manufacturers are going to be doing this after the whole Ford mess and Takata thing. Recalls happen all the time and I'm glad they do. If you want vehicle with the lowest recalls you can always go with the Hyundai Accent. It had the fewest of any vehicle but still had some.
You sure about that? I havent heard of any Yugos or Ladas being recalled. Well, I havent heard of any being sold either...:whistle:

Looked it up on most recalls and least recalls. Strangely, Mercedes topped the list of most recalls with C-Class. I know nothing about Mercedes other that German, blah, blah, blah. Guess the C-Class was/is a recall rat trap.

Well the valet in the men's lounge told me that they were going to be offering new services but it was hard to hear him through the hot towel on my face. So I took the towel off, took a sip of the complimentary 25 yr old McCallan and asked him to explain. After lighting my free Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de Río Seco cigar, he used the complimentary iPad Pro they loan customers during the time you own your vehicle to explain that new discrete services were being offered with service. They had a minimum service requirement of at least getting your wiper blades replaced which seemed like a fair threshold for a memorable added value customer experience. He indicated that I would learn more on the private jet of the monthly complimentary customer trip to the beaches of New Zealand. I just hope THIS time, they offer something other than a Rolex Daytona for the coming home gift.
