Huge recall on 1500s because airbags don’t work.

Saw this a few minutes ago.

I gotta say, RAMs approach to quality is a bit suspect....

Airbags not working? Check.
Pedals falling off? Check.
Steering wheels falling off? Check.
Power steering suddenly failing? Check.

I can deal with electrical gremlins and minor mechanical stuff, but am not keen on the “stuff that might kill me” quality issues

Eh, lots of cars have recalls. I have a Subaru as well that is a great car. It has been recalled and repaired too.

Wonder if this is why I have a "Service Airbag System" warning .... again.

I've been flashed and beeped every thirty seconds for hundreds of miles, waiting for my service appointment week after next.

Glad they are taking care of the issue, their have been no accidents or injury's related to it so far. Also it doesn't state the airbags don't work it says it is possible if the module becomes corrupt.

Thx to those who share this information. I haven’t heard anything about pedals and steering wheels.

It’s important to know about these recalls and it’s likely the best use of this forum as far as ownership goes

So far my truck blows ice cold ac, gets 19+ mpg, doesn’t leak, everything works perfectly, no unusual noises or clunks, and chicks dig it :)

Enjoy your weekend guys & dolls

Unfortunately recalls are the norm. I think our two year old Honda is on its third one right now, plus multiple software updates to fix the issues with the center stack.

It is better than ignoring the issue, which is what would have happened in the past.

With the hundreds to thousands of components in a modern vehicle from dozens of suppliers, its no wonder. Hey even my Japanese made Prius has had 2 recalls and thats about as high of manufactured quality vehicle I’ve seen. They are not luxury but are built well. Original brakes with 150K miles, barely half worn...

I’m still good with Ram, my 15 F150 had several recalls and more TSB’s than you could have imagined. That was a 1st year design as well. It is annoying and consumes time yes, however does get remedied.

.................All while sweating in 60 degree air blowing on you in a hot cab. Better wear motorcycle helmet for airbag temporary fix......or duct tape 5 grandma size Kotex pads onto center of steering wheel just in case things don't deploy when needed. We can McGyver anything Ram throws at us.

Thanks for the update. Like in economics or politics, the haters will have to find another issue.

I'm really surprised I found out about the recall from the forum first.. why did my ram app not give me a notification that I have a recall?
How is this truck not smart enough to tell me I have a recall also??
Surely the uconnect system should have those type of notifications.

Seems like a simple fix. If you read the whole notice instead of the headline, there were no accidents as a result of this recall. The positive thing here is its a proactive recall vs a reactive people-crashed-or-died-because-of-something recall. More manufacturers are going to be doing this after the whole Ford mess and Takata thing. Recalls happen all the time and I'm glad they do. If you want vehicle with the lowest recalls you can always go with the Hyundai Accent. It had the fewest of any vehicle but still had some.

If you have the Fuelly app it will let you know. It’s odd but I found out about a recall (without context) from the App.
