Hemi s Back

They should have delayed the re-introduction of the 5.7 Hemi a couple years until they were able to redesign the cam/lifters, redesign the exhaust manifolds, eliminate the MDS, eliminate e-torque and give it another 50 hp. I love mine, but crossing my fingers for a long life out of it. Just my $.02.
I'd like to see them take a 426 or 440 and put modern electronics on it. There are probably enough of us old folks that would buy "just because".

Ford did a redo of the 460.

And thats perfectly fine.. Ive said it before.. offer both as an option and let the buyer spec and buy what fits them better… but lets not act like 350-400hp can’t merge on the interstate just fine this isn’t the Autobaun system hell even then it wouldn’t be a problem. Lets not flaunt that 540hp like its necessary especially in a heavy pick up truck unless your one or those people that wanna race stoplight to stoplight in local towns be realistic.

Yet the same ones poo-pooing the hurricane having more HP are asking for the 6.4

So true, I’ve done it plenty of times myself to justify a “want” but once the want goes away and logic pops in w/ the actual “needs” you realize things.

My guess is that most of us have done that :ROFLMAO:

Even though some aren't willing to admit it.

Thats also true, it would be nice but at the point might as well step up to a 2500 series truck if the 6.4 is what you absolutely gotta have.

Many wanna a strip down single cab street geared truck w/ the 6.4 from the factory but I’m sure thats a slim market and probably a reason it hasn’t happened in the Ram platform, if the family man only has one vehicle it probably needs to be a 4 door.

I would also think that is a small market, but then I see an absurd amount of RCAB F150 Coyotes running around where I live in CO that I think hey - what do I know??

Funny thing is they all like it for it's "sleeper" appearance, but nowadays the more-surprising thing to see would be an RCAB 'Yote with a Toolbox and NOT a Blower.

Anytime I see one now - usually lowered - I figure it's packin' for sure.

Yep them RCAB F150 Coyotes have gotten really popular but can only assume cost versus profit might not be enough for Ram to justify it then add a 6.4 to that mix. Might have not been as bad if they even offered the 5th Gen already as a single cab tradesman trim work truck at least.

Certainly not required, the power is absolutely better. We'll see how buyers go in 2 years to shop trucks after a bunch of NASCAR ads saying "give me the motor with less power" ;) In all seriousness, there is an absolute difference in merging on an interstate daily with 395hp and 540.

I'm not a believer in the magic of the 6.4 in a 1500, it just doesn't make power. That said, do I need 540 hp in a truck? Yes. Do I want 540HP in a truck? Yes. Is it necessary for my day to day driving? Yes.

In all seriousness though, its like many here say about 4x4, they'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. What are you going to do when a coyote powered F150 or a 6.2 powered GM twin pulls up next to you at a light? Tuck your tail between your legs and not make eye contact because you only have the 5.7 or are you going to look them dead in the eye and gap their donkeys because you have the power of a HO Hurricane!!

Don't be fooled, they know.

Ram SRT 10 by comparison,
0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds (Regular Cab).
Quarter-mile: 13.6 seconds (Regular Cab).

2025 Ram Limited HO
C/D TEST RESULTS
60 mph: 4.2 sec
100 mph: 11.1 sec
1/4-Mile: 12.8 sec @ 106 mph

I agree with you about 4WD, but racing from stop light to stop light is juvenile and honestly stupid. When someone pulls up next to me at a stop light I pretty much ignore them. Who cares who makes it to the next stop light first? I'm just trying to get home, or the store, or one of my friend's or family's houses.

SRT 6.4 making 485 HP is the only version that makes sense in the 1500. Kinda in between the two Hurricane’s.

I’d much rather see that than the return of the 5.7.

I’m guessing the RHO sales especially would benefit with the SRT 6.4. Even though the HO puts out more HP I’m betting a lot more would option for the big V8 instead.

RAM RHO Scat Pack with a shaker hood. I sure like the sound of that.😍

Yeah but that's a car engine, not tuned for a heavy truck and isn't going to happen anyway

That sir is Un-American

Just today.
My wife and I were rolling out of the grocery store in her M50 when a guy in a new BMW gave my wife the thumbs up as she was waiting to pull out. She caught him at the light.

So I shouted “you wanta go” as I pointed.
She hammered it at the light as the old man in his new temp tag BMW was trying to find his window down switch. 😂

We laughed our a$$ off the whole way home.

Just good redneck fun.

Ima continue to go on about my day I like usually do, I don’t feel the need to feed into someone egos and run stop light to stop light in traffic just to end up at the same red light. It’s a DD and does that well and will always be for the foreseeable future.

You mean the same interstate merges that the clapped out Honda civic or beater car has no problem merging onto, Its common sense driving. Cmon on be realistic man, we’re friends here I promise unless your personal accountant is on here we don’t need the bs excuse to justify the upgrade and your money you work for it lol spend it how you want.

You mean the same Nascar cars or trucks that run the same chevy stock car style motor and setup pretty similar but with a (insert whatever manufacturer) fiberglass body on it. The non mullet heads aren’t buying a new vehicle just because said vehicle manuf won the race. Back in the day.. maybe but with fiberglass bodies and the class rules.. they are all setup pretty similar.

Ill say it again.. engine options and packages are great let the buyer decide what they want/need.

I don't know where you read this or why you keep repeated it as it simply isn't true. Hell, to read here, the HEMI doesn't have the duty cycle of a iron block NA V8.
GM has been using aluminum blocks for years without issues as have BMW and Toyota and meanwhile, GM cant keep the iron block 6.2 from blowing apart inside 1000 miles, they recalled them

If you want the HEMI, get the HEMI, it you want more power, get the Hurricane truck because the 5.7 isn't getting anymore HP and the 1500 isn't getting a 6.4

It's repeated because it's true. All the heavy duty gas engines are iron block, including GMs.

And yes, the 5.7 hemi is the only gas engine in the half ton segment that was used and abused for years in the heavy duty segment.

Your comment about the 6.2 is extremely disingenuous, but you knew that. The reason the 6.2 is failing (right now) is not due to engine or architectural design, it's a flaw in their manufacturing process which has already been corrected. And correction, it's also not an iron block. Their recent iron blocks are the 6.0 and 6.6 both only in the heavy duty segment.
