Headlight animation

No, they actually offered it to me, I wanted the lights!
Just curious about how the buy back would work? I'd have so many questions regarding it. Would you have to return the truck that day? Were they going to allow you to have another truck built for you or were you going to have to take one off of their lot? And what about your deposit and current loan? Would the deposit/money down that you put on the truck you were returning go towards your new truck or were you going to have to put another deposit/money down on the new truck? And finally, if offered the buy back, would you be allowed to drive the old truck until your new truck came in if you were allowed to order a new truck?

The special order window opened about 2 weeks after the buyback was offered. they let me drive the truck until that day, I ended up picking another off the lot, I didn't want to be without a truck for months. I totally regret that decision now as the newer production truck (Aug Vs Oct) has numerous issues, the first one was great.

If that's the case I think I'd just stay in the truck I'm driving now and take a cash offer if they offered it for the lights not being there or even let them instal any parts that had to along with the animated lights. I need a vehicle to drive and cant wait until a newer one is built for me.

Damn, I just foundout there is a recall for the software module for the headlights on the 2025 Rams. For a moment I got all excited thinking that they are finally admitting they screwed up by not installing the animation lights and software on the Rebel 2 equipment group trucks. But then after reading it, it said it only affects 53 trucks and ones that were built from September 20th to October 4th. I guess I was expecting to much by thinking Ram would do the right thing. (n)(n)(n)(n)

Was seeing that recall as well and was thinking they were finally addressing it until I saw the details too. So irritating.

My truck is at the dealership and having them look in to it. The initial tech said my lights work fine and aren't supposed to be animated yet it clearly stated on the window sticker that they should. Back to fighting the issue with them..

Can someone explain to me what this animation is?

It’s a quick little light dance sequence on the headlamps and taillights that only happens when you unlock the truck. You can see it happen at about 1 minute in on the video below.

The problem is, no rebel or Laramie can be equipped with the headlights and taillights lights that are capable of that feature, but on certain rebel and Laramie packages, Ram claims that the animation feature is included (but not the actual headlight and taillight upgrade).
So, basically, it’s not possible for Ram to rectify the error by installing and configuring the correct headlights.

I wonder why can't they be installed? I would like to have them since they were included in the price of the truck based on my window sticker.

It would be practically impossible for a dealer to install them. They would need to swap out the tail lights and headlights, swap out the left chassis harness, body harness (entire interior comes out for that), and left dash/engine bay harness. Then after that, the body computer needs to be configured for them, but the sales codes to configure them are not available for them to add to your VIN.

Basically the build sheet contains an error and no one was charged for anything and there is nothing they can do for an error.

Pretty much. It’ll basically be “whoops, sorry, made a mistake”.
They’ve already scrubbed those features from the rebel level 2 package on the build and price, and they’ve already started generating window stickers that don’t reflect those features anymore. Price of the package stays the same at $2795, so there’s really no credit for them to give back to people for the error.

Here’s a window sticker from August that shows the features:

Here’s a window sticker from December that shows they are removed:

Is that all? Haha

I don't think it's as easy as saying "whoops, sorry y'all" personally. The window sticker/build sheet is a contract of everything that should be included in the vehicle being purchased and by not including it it's a breach of that contract. It then becomes false advertising and a UDAAP situation. They way the build sheet makes it look like is that if you bought the Level 2 package then you should be getting the upgraded light housings.

Guess that's for a lawyer to determine. But that's going to be a really hard argument to make. Sounds like you all should start a class action lawsuit. You won't get the animated lights, but you could get compensation.

Agreed. I'm not sure what to expect out of the situation personally but I've seen two buybacks and a few people offered refunds on the package so far. It'll probably be tougher now though with RAM updating descriptions.
