I'm an agent in Iowa - it wont be totaled. What company you with?

Go get 2 estimates. Ram Dealer and Independent Body shop. I'm sure they're slammed and will be for some time. Might as well file a claim on your house roof too - you'll have damage there too.

I have Auto Owners Insurance. They are coming out tomorrow to take a look. Already filed claims on both truck and house. First ones in my life, but these are no brainers based on damage to each. AOI said they don't require me to go to a certain place for the truck, so its my option.

Freak hail storm came through on Friday and nailed my truck. Hood and roof (no sunroof) are riddled. Lots of other dents as well. Bak flip cover dented to crap.

Claim filed and I'm waiting for adjuster. Anyone go through this? Wondering what to expect for damage total. Surely won't be enough to total it, right? 2019 Limited optioned out with only 36K miles. I've literally never had to go through insurance in my life.
I just went through this with my 2021 Ram here in Kentucky. Claim only came out to $1500 but the repair shop had to add a supplement and it went to $6500. Obviously I only paid my deductible and it took a while to get it into a repair shop. But I just got it back Tuesday looks good as new and I got a new tonneau cover out of it so I’m not complaining.

My previous truck was a '15 GMC Canyon and hail got the hood, roof really good and a few dings on the fenders, bedsides and tailgate. Paid my deductible and insurance took care of PDR on all of it. Came out looking just like new again. The entire process was very painless. State Farm had an adjuster at the local body shop, setup under a tent. Then scheduled with the PDR guys who had 3 tents going at the body shop as well.

I just got mine back from Caliber Collision yesterday after hail repair, the 3rd vehicle we had repaired this year after a hailstorm in April. $4600 total, not nearly as bad as OP's but very noticeable. They did a great job with the PDR and trim replacement on all my vehicles.

Long overdue update on this, but all the severe Iowa weather reminded me of it again. In the end, they fixed over 30K of damage. Let's never do that again. Took 4 months to get it back from the shop. Whole new hood, whole new roof, new front windshield, trim, on and on.

wait til you see what's coming down the pike in terms of homeowners insurance. I'm in Colorado, and we are getting 100% increases on homeowners due to hail/fire risk. My home went from $2K to $4K a year. It's happening in TX, FL(Hurricanes), CO, and soon any state where hail is a big risk. As a retired adjuster, I would say no chance your truck is totaled, but any panel that is aluminum will be a replacement, and refinish. Don't be surprised if your damage is over $7500. Good luck buddy.

Sorry, something like that happened to you. Had the same thing happened with my vehicles on Mother's Day here in Central Texas. Hail golf ball size battered both my vehicles sitting in my driveway. I contacted my insurance immediately and got a quote for my 2021 Ram $8,800.00, 2022 Gladiator $2,800 both require $500.00 deductible. Also the roof of my house was totaled, the garage door requires replacement, chimney metal cover requires replacement , the storage roof totaled and the fence suffered hail damage. The damage to the Ram truck requires roof, hood and hard bed cover replacement - no glass damage. On my Gladiator the major damage was the hood it requires replacement, there's no glass or roof damage and surprisingly my retractable bed cover didn't received any damage. I guess it's a better quality bed cover. The bad thing was after I've gotten my quote three days later another hailstorm hits my area and a tornado touched down. My house started leaking due to the previous damage and if I have to make another claim the insurance would require me to pay another 1 percent deductible(sucks!). I should have waited until the storm season is over before I made any claim. Oh well, lesson learned I guess.

They might total that? It goes by if the damage is a certain % of the value! If it’s payed for and they don’t total it, you can take the check of whatever the damage is and just replace the hood if it bothers you and pocket the rest, if your planning on keeping it for 8-10 years, you won’t get hurt that bad. Or you can take all the money and fix it all? I’ve been through this a few times in Iowa. Maybe the laws are different in other states? Sorry about your damage and good luck with whatever they decide to do👍🏻
I think I might just do what you suggested. My truck is paid for and I already got the check from the insurance. I'll just replace the hood and pocket the rest of the money.

Iowa has had 5 companies leave. 2 of them are closing their personal lines divisions entirely. 100% increases are just the start. try 1,2,3% wind/hail deductibles. thats a percent of the dwelling replacement cost. $1M home - $10K deductible. It gets uglier for large commercial buildings. $100M buiding? $1-2M deductible. I just had a rep in my office - 5% is now coming out. Meaning, you dont have any roof coverage unless it's a total loss, or a fire.

I live in Colorado with more and more hail damage. Any ideas on truck covers?

If you cant get it inside , the only ting that I've seen that works is this.
